What is the year & make of your truck, and how many miles on the original engine and transmission...a chance to talk about your truck, not downgrade someone else's ...

LOL except for the 200 hp go cart that video pretty much sums it up.  Even more insulting IMO is walking into these modern showrooms. Ugly 25 ft ceilings, glass from floor to ceiling expensive and big waste of money and resources and raises everyones costs of doing business

I've got a 2021 Ram Rebel.  5.7 V8 Hemi.  Getting to about 100,000 miles now.  Zero issues.  Gas mileage is around 13-14 mpg in total.  And I've loved every mile.  It tows the Ranger like it isn't even there.  Dual axle trailer.  I am happy that they are offering the Hemi V8 again.  No way was I going to consider getting into a V6 Hurricane engine.

I agree with you edge. I did construction work all my life and my truck was a workhorse tool. However there are those that run the kids to soccer practice, use it to get groceries or just put empty highway miles on their truck. In those cases mileage is the driver in the decision making on the purchase.

I cant wrap my head around buying a truck based off of fuel mileage. I farm and its a tool that I need, power and payload is my first needs

My 3.0L diesel gets about 25-28 mpg on my commute to/from work. Highway going 75+ usually around 23-25 depending on wind. I hit an average of 33 mpg when driving for 3 hours on county roads.

The owner of Devine liquor in Menomonie stopped me last Friday to ask about my gas mileage, he has a 7.2 diesel and said he can squeal the tires pulling his 5th wheel. But he had driven back and forth to River Falls twice that day already so the mileage and fuel cost were killing him.

Funny, looking back at my previous comment when I started looking into getting a new truck and I said I didn't want a diesel, but here we are lol. I buy a truck to use it as a truck, but it is nice getting the mileage I currently am.

It seems like people are being disingenuous about their mileage.  My F250 has a 6.2 and it gets bad mileage.  I just ordered an F350 with a 7.3 and I'm sure it won't be good mileage either, but at least it's got a 48 gallon tank.

Those are all valid points in that video.

I suffered through that AI generated slog so no one else should have to.

The perfect storm of engineering ruining truck engines

Not sure how much salt to take with this vid but it does confirm our suspicions of packing more horsepower into smaller engines.  The result is a perfect storm of design flaws on engines.

Say what? not everyone buys a truck so they can 4wheel drive thru a foot of mud and snow and into the forest and haul home that 240#  8 point buck?

I have a 21 ram crew cab with the v8. It has a tow package but that's really it. No sensors on it at all. 5 ft 7 in bed. It also has a flat floor when you lift the back seats  which is nice for my dogs. There's a ton of room in the back seat. Gets up to 26 to the gallon.  I have a trailer if I need to haul something.

When I went to the dealer this year I looked at the new ones,  they were all 6 cylinders.  The salesman told me they were bringing back the 8 this coming year.

the internet is gold when it comes to searching for the exact vehicle you want but use your local dealer to check out the basics
