There is a whole forum for dogs. Let's have this thread for house cats. We have one in the house. We have never cared for dogs and have always had cats. Anyone else the same way?

Sorry to hear about Ozzie Brent. 20 years is a good run. I'm sure Ozzie couldn't have asked for better loving life.
Enjoy the memories for years to come.

There isn't a one less cat in the house thread, so I'll post this here.

My wife and I had to put down Ozzie this morning, our cat of 20 years.

He had been losing a little bit each week for the last couple of months, wasn't eating much, and overall declining. We didn't want to see him suffer, so made the hard decision to take him to the vet. We had a great 20 years, and it was the right thing to do, but it didn't make it any easier.

This is a picture maybe an hour before.  Smokey (our pup), could tell something was wrong, and jumped up on the couch and laid next to Ozzie.

So funny what animals can sense.
Ozzie was such a good kitty, he will be so missed.

RIP Ozzie.

Well, the grey cat is home and through her "radioactive" period.  She will get a vet check in about two weeks.

It's nice to be able to sit with her on our laps and give her all the pets now.

She was just under 5 pounds when she was weighed at the vet.  Swear to God, she's a little heavier now.  Not as bony, so I feel like the treatment has worked for her.
UW vet says we will see very gradual changes in her over time.  She should put on some good and needed weight.  Nighttime anxiety should go down and her insatiable hunger should go down.
So far?  She's already a little calmer.  But she still eats a ton.  Typically we feed her 7:30 breakfast, 11:30 lunch, 5:00 supper, 2nd supper an hour after first supper, 8:00 feeding, 10:00 feeding, then 2:00AM feeding and a 5:00AM feeding.  That has not changed....yet.  We are going through a ton of wet food.

Course, if I yelled a little and someone got up and gave me a pizza, I'd be doing it every few hours, too.  I think she's trained us.

Good to hear Vegas.   We were there with our oldest setter last fall a couple times, great facility.

LOL.  Nope.  I've got too many meetings to just leave.  But she's with her momma, I'm sure all is good.  Should be home in an hour and a half.

She is missing you for sure! Are you going to sit at work and wonder, I never took sick days but you could always do that, start coughing a little bit. 🤣

Well, it's our lucky day.  UW just called and we can pick up our kitty!  She's all good to come home.
Bad part is that I'm at work with meetings from 10:00 to 2:00.
It looks like Madison could get some severe weather tonight and tomorrow so my wife is on her way to Madison to get our little girl.

Then comes the hard part.  Having her at home and not being able to just smother her with pets!

We did get an update late yesterday.  Our little grey cat (D) is doing good.  Eating, playing, using the litter box, drinking....etc.  But, her radiation levels are not safe to take home yet.  The vet thought that Friday could be the day.

On an interesting note, I'm sure they say this to most every pet owner, but we heard that "The staff just loves her!".  Apparently she talks to all of them when they come into the room and she convinces them to let her out of her enclosure to run around and have some fun.  So they take turns playing with her.

It sounds like she's not depressed that she isn't in her home and that she is just rolling with the punches.

Last night our other cat, Stormy, was pretty vocal at night.  She wanted some attention in the middle of the night.  I have a feeling like she's missing her buddy.
