I put one on last summer, Now I'm waiting for a hail storm so I can go back to shingles

Obvious con is the initial cost. Obvious pro is the durability.

Like the previous posts, the steel is very slippery so if you do any kind of maintenance or installations on the roof  you will have a different experience maybe a bad experience with steel. Be prepared for falling snow and ice at any time.

Dont quote me on this but check for yourself......... I beleive there is a steel that matches the look and texture of shingles that would mitigate sliding. Pricey though.

Only con is if you have gutter guards you're going to need snow guards everywhere not just in front of doors. We have steel roof on our lake house.  We have not found a gutter guard that would hold up to sliding ice/snow anywhere where we don't have snow guards. Not every single guard comes off but enough that it gives me a project every spring.
