This can include all whiskeys that are not bourbon. Irish, Japanese and malt whiskies. This 16 year is incredible. Very smooth.

Sitting here in the store room and enjoying some infusion of chocolate malt and almond to enhance some lesser liked whiskeys. Chocolate goes well with most whiskeys. The Macallan 12 does not really need it but this makers mark needs help. Not really a good sipper and so much over the top tastes it is not good in a mixed drink at all. With malt balls before sipping it makes It a-lot better.
BMR,
Favorites of mine include the Aberlour , (not the one 16 year old you pictured) but it's their least expensive, usually around $50 at Otto's on Milw. Eastside. I gotta check Woodman's now,my Mother 91 year old imbiber lives very close to one. Also you'll laugh 'cause it's so common- love Glenfiddich. (again least $.) If I'm on a nite out at a Supper club or Steakhouse, McCallum any age all great.
Unfortunately, I have yet to learn the art of drinking Scotch "neat" Will only do that for really good stuff that other people serve me. I love the (new to me) ice ball that better places have. And am a fan of those "cold cubes' , the fake ice that doesn't actually melt but does cool it off.
I think way back when these Liquor threads started-you said you were on fence with Angels Envy-that is the one Burbon I can absolutely swill neat,,,pure love that stuff!

BMR,
Got deep into the TaliskerStorm last night.
Had purchased before but this time tried to distinguish the flavors. Smoke was of course most noticeable. It’s a strong tasting scotch, find I must have a few cubes along with it. Really have met few single malts I don’t like-except the real cheapies. However try as I mite could not really pick out other tastes…guess I ‘ll just have to quote my namesake and say “I’m no schoolboy but I know what I like” and leave the in depth reviews to you…always enjoy your posts!

Yea Kona, I think if you know what flavor you’re looking for, it makes it much easier to identify. BMR is experienced on identifying the flavors. Sometimes you can taste a flavor and not know exactly what it is. BMR is a man of many talents and very generous nature.
Tried the TX Whiskey and it is a really good sipper for me (BMR recommendation). I do not have the palate of many guys on here but even I can taste the caramel and vanilla finish. Too sweet for one of my buddies but at $30-$35 a bottle it is an easy choice for me. On my 2nd Armida bottle and like my first one it is much better after opened for a month or so. Do not have too many higher proof bottles. Can taste the fruit/pear finish. Price as even come down a bit. Paid $79 for my last bottle.
