What the masses will miss about the Watson deal are two key things.
#1, it is an extension, so we have him for 5 years.
#2, $31M guaranteed is very low. It is less than half of what Alec Pierce got. GB has only guaranteed dollars outside of the signing bonus for QB's and Parsons. Even Tom didn't get any. I doubt Watson did either.
So, it is a low guarantee contract with midish WR AAV. Easy to pay, easy to cut, easy to renegotiate, easy to trade.

The Green Bay Packers have reportedly made a big-time commitment to one of their most potent big-play threats. They’ve signed wide receiver Christian Watson to a four-year, $110.5 million extension that comes with a $31 million signing bonus, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Thursday.
Well they have Reed/Watson tied up for the next few years.

Vegas- Hope you are right about Burton, we will need some young guys to step up this year and at the least be dependable back-ups. Guys like Monk, Jennings etc. have not shown much the last two years. Looks like Tom should be ready by training camp but a patellar tendon tear is still a significant injury to come back from. Elton Jenkins was never the same after that ACL injury.
Size doesn't really matter all that much in an end or OLB when you are in a nickel most of the game. I say that, but if someone is light, like 250 light, they need to have a great anchor to turn outside plays inside. Sorrell has that. I'll bet that Sorrell is around 260-265 by now and he had great strength even as a rookie. Dig that kid. He is not going to scream the corner and bend, but he's country strong and actually gives effort, unlike Gary.
Oliver is the light one with no real anchor. Pass rush specialist as an EDGE.
DDS is the one who will have the whole package next year. 6'5'' 255 coming out. He's probably 260 now, and next year, he will likely be in that 270 range. He's got the size to put on that strength with a good off season program. He only slips to the 4'th round because of a loaded EDGE class. I don't feel like he was really in play for our second round pick, but I'll bet he was high on our list for the 3'rd and we were thrilled to grab him in the 4'th. You don't get guys with that size, that RAS and that kind of collegiate production that far down in the draft too often.

LVN would be an end. That's the easy one. Then either Hargrave or Wyatt. The other one would be nose. Backed up by Stackhouse.
But again, we are talking 3/4, and Gannon likes the 4/3 front for base.
The more interesting thing to me will be goalline/short yardage defense.
Saw where Gannon was running some camp stuff that had a lot of blitzes going on, specifically with Coop, which was great to see. Even saw a clip where Coop was rushing from a pure EDGE position.
Just a few clips of OTA stuff out there, but Cisse is hands down our most athletic CB. It isn't even close.
Burton running with the 1's, while Belton moves to RT to cover for a rehabbing Tom.
My prediction is that it is going to be hard to keep Burton off the field. He's going to take snaps from Banks or Rhyan.

I’m hoping Sorrell makes a jump this year after being student of Parsons. If Sorrell and DDS can both ”Bring It”, maybe we can hold of the enemy until #1’s return.
Im excited about Cooper and Franklin working together. Cooper will probably be better without a Green Dot on his helmet?
Sweat would help out quite a bit also. Go Pack! It’s a long road for your Soul, to get to the Super Bowl! 🏈⚡️💥

To me? We are in base between 5-9% of the time. You can make any body type work.
In regards to LVN? If this year goes like last year, he's going to get plenty of looks at IDL. Hand in the dirt. Passing downs.
If I'm sitting in a 3/4, I want my two OLB's to be about 250-255 pounds. I want my two DE's to be about 275-285. I want my NT to be 330.
But again, we are in that so rarely that it doesn't much matter.
Very excited about DDS. So excited that I'm already prepared to be disappointed in how the coaching staff uses him.
Also disappointed that Oliver started the OTA's in the rehab unit. That kid has great bend and take off.
