Hugh - that last post I made was simply an observation about a "group discussion" over the weekend. It wasn't even "venting". it certainly wasn't complaining.
Too many people simply complain without adding anything insightful at all.
My general point regarding high fuel costs is that "This too shall pass". It may be an inconvenience - or a larger expense if you're running a business - but the often repeated the hair-on-fire chicken-little-isms of offer nothing...And the point of my last post is that many people simply make stuff up in order to castrophize it..."It's going to get much worse until orange man goes to jail."...That is just silly, no matter which team you root for. Lots of folks do it though.
Old hunter's post was awesome, BTW.
Got another "cut the cost for a little old lady on a fixed income" job today. Neighbor's tree fell yesterday morning. Dead calm, high humidity. Tree just got too heavy to continue fighting the decay. Box elder....Complaint? Tree is on a slope and I can't get equipment to it.

Junkie, I agree with what you are saying; much more is going on behind the scenes than we know. But that doesnt necessarily mean that behind the scenes there is some master plan playing out just how it was scripted. As Mike Tyson said everyone has a plan till they get punched in the face. Iran controlling the strait is our Punch in the face. Typically a POTUS uses leaks to get false information out so it doesn't jeopardize their credibility. Everything that I mentioned has been coming straight from the POTUS mouth.
Jabberwalker - I didn't present any information for it to be inaccurate. Just stated that some analysts are predicting lowest prices since 2020. Gemini AI will give you that same answer. If you're interested in their data source you'd have to look that up.
I don't pay attention to analysts or get caught up in the propaganda. Just like to play devils advocate and point out how little we actually know about anything.

We are told what they want us to know, I've never understood us average joes trying to rationalize the decisions the most powerful people in the world make. Do you really think there isn't more to every military move we make that we can't understand because we don't know the big picture?
The white house literally has a script put together for reporters, and that's what is presented to the common public. We know EXACTLY as much as they want us to know. Trust the process.

Junkie, its hard to trust the process when you were told that Iran's military was 100% obliterated 3 days after the war started, and then for the last 3 months that a deal was imminent. I'm reading reports that Iran may still have up to 70% of their missiles, and we are going broke shooting $1500 dollar drones down with $1M dollar missiles. Regardless they still have enough military might to control the Strait. So something isn't adding up.
Junkie, your data is from January before the Iran war started.
Kiplinger 4 days ago: The national average price of regular unleaded is off its peak from earlier this spring of about $4.50 per gallon. Today, the national average stands at $4.22. Drivers are not complaining about the decrease. But the national average remains more than $1 per gallon higher than at this time a year ago. In general, prices starting with a 4 tend to feel high for American consumers, and often lead them to cut back their spending on other goods or services, since it’s difficult to drive less on short notice. We expect gas prices to keep easing, and perhaps slip a bit below the $4 threshold this summer, but probably not by much. And if oil prices start climbing again due to continuing disruptions to exports in the Middle East, gas could quickly shoot up again. Diesel, now averaging $5.38 per gallon, is also coming down, but like gas, remains well above last year’s prices.
Yahoo Finance 1 day ago: Gas prices have fallen for four straight weeks, but uncertainty persists amid the Strait of Hormuz closure and tightening global oil supplies. Average gas prices declined in almost every state over the past week, though relief could be short-lived as oil reacts to Middle East tensions, according to a GasBuddy forecast. GasBuddy’s forecast says drivers could see the most expensive summer in years as long as the strait remains closed. “Americans are going to pay billions more to get where they’re going this summer, and even after the Strait reopens, it could take a year or more for prices to fully recover,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “This is the most volatile summer at the pump in years.”

Prices have been increasing since the day the dollar replaced gold. It's called inflation.
Some analysts are already forecasting lowest gas prices since 2020 for this year.
I just look forward to everyone having a hernia over a few extra dollars at the pump, to thank POTUS for reducing the cost when all is said and done. Since it's his fault right? Trust the process.
Hugh - I don't think I've seen a single person say a negative word about Wiscoarborist in my short time here, maybe you're better off to the 'outdoorsman forums' on facebook.

Fuel costs came up over the weekend. I pointed out that the price has been dropping.
"Ya, but you're gonna be payin' over &$7/gal for diesel by summer!"
Why? Did this guy have some inside track on the future?. Did he have some intelligent comment to make regarding policies, or trends or anything? No. He just said the name of our POTUS. That - presumably - should be enough.
This was in front of a bunch of people....Why do people do that?...We get it - you don't like the president. But independent of that...It still sounds stupid....Nobody engaged him further. Not because he had the last, definitive word, but because it's not worth the trouble.
BTW, be the guy driving a Toyota, complaining how much it costs you to get to work 12 miles from home. Be unable to discuss the issue intelligently. Do it in front of a couple guys who make a living - in part - driving multiple large diesel trucks from one job to the next...And running diesel equipment when there....Sure. You've got our sympathy.
But he was a big guy. Loud. "Large" personality....That's often enough.
