If you tracked cost of just about any item that American's consistently use out of necessity on a daily basis, you'd find similar trends. It's just easy to track changes in gas since it's posted on a big sign up front.

Every time gas prices go up it takes forever for the prices to go back down.
It's simple it's called price gouging, which is supposed to be illegal, yeah right.
