These BADLY need to get outside but i just haven't had room to move them to outside yet. Too many vegetables to get rid of first. I might try to find some room anyhow so I can get these planted. ASAP. Man those tall, skinny ones (which i have no idea what they are other than they came from a wildflower mix) sure took off fast once I transplanted them! The Zinnias too are getting huge!
Nice looking ponds. Worth all the work.
I stopped at a popular Amish run greenhouse Saturday looking for somethings. It was busy and they didn't have what I wanted. Driving along I noticed another greenhouse with nobody at it. I stopped, got what I wanted and went to pay and got the sticker shock. Mind you I'm used to going to the urban retail stores. $11.25 for everything I wanted. Nobody to fight with. People were awesome. Selection was incredible. For sure will be buying the rest of my plants there if these do well.

After my surgery I walk like a Weeble anyway so it was really tough for me, I must have came close to falling at least 15 times, slippery as snail snot. My legs were so tired I had to walk out of my pond on my hands and knees to get over the edge. I think I'm going to have to hire some Amish boys to take care of this for me next year.
But I am almost finished couple more rocks on a small pond and I'm done.

Thanks for the compliments guys and gals.
Westfield I have to fill with the city water.
Also be careful in there Westfield so you don't slip and fall. I clean mine up in the fall and spring it's mostly leaf litter that way not much muck, just two sloppy wet wheel barrows full of leafy mess to the compost.

You have an awesome Pond is that water coming in from a natural water source or do you have to fill it up.
Here's a picture of my pond.
I started cleaning my pond yesterday it's been a couple years because of my back issues. It's a big job getting all that sludge out of the bottom of the pond. But I'm almost ready to fill it up, I have to rearrange some rocks and I should be good to go.

I made the mistake of trying something different this year and it didn't work out, my turn out was very disappointing. What I have done in the past and I will continue to do next year is just put the seeds in potting soil and a little starting mix in the top of the pot, I think the pots are 4 X 4 X 4 I have grow lights that are not hot so I lower the grow lights down to about a half inch from the pot and I leave the light on for about 14 hours. I will usually put three to four seeds in each pot and I do not have to transplant them until they go into the ground. I was expecting to get 250 plants this year and I only got about 50. You know the old saying if it isn't broke don't fix it. I keep the light low until plants get about 2 in high, this makes the stems nice and strong.
To water them until the seeds come up I use a spray bottle just to get the top moist not too wet. Once they get a second and third leaf on the flower I start bottom watering the plants. Never let the soil dry out or your seeds will not sprout. picture below is how close I keep the grow lights, Hope this helps

This question is for Westfield mostly, but for anyone else who also starts flowers from seed. This was my first year using a coco mat to start seeds and I did one flat (4X12) of various seedlings and only a few germinated and the ones that did germinate quickly died off. I kept the mat moist. Not too wet, and never dried out, but the seedlings just seemed to come up then die within a few days. Do flowers need a bit of nutrients right away, or was I just doing something wrong? The pepper seedlings I planted in the coco matting did better, though they weren't growing as much as a seed starter mix did. From now on I think I'll stick to seed starting mix, but I had a coco mat leftover from when I started some compost worm bedding so I thought I'd try it. Out of those 48 seedlings, I was only able to salvage 2 of them and many never even germinated! I suck at starting flowers indoors - anything other than zinnias and marigolds - those two seem to be bulletproof!
