She created an organization that provided thousands of books for under privileged children.
She used her celebrity status to benefit others, as did Bob Hope and others who the flag was lowered for upon their passing.

This lowering the US flag to half staff is getting out of control. We need to get back to standard flag etiquette and guidelines.


United States Code Title 4 Chapter 1 — The Flag§7. Position and manner of display
The flag, when flown at half-staff, should be first hoisted to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff position. The flag should be again raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day. On Memorial Day the flag should be displayed at half-staff until noon only, then raised to the top of the staff. By order of the President, the flag shall be flown at half-staff upon the death of principal figures of the United States Government and the Governor of a State, territory, or possession, as a mark of respect to their memory. In the event of the death of other officials or foreign dignitaries, the flag is to be displayed at half-staff according to Presidential instructions or orders, or in accordance with recognized customs or practices not inconsistent with law. In the event of the death of a present or former official of the government of any State, territory, or possession of the United States, or the death of a member of the Armed Forces from any State, territory, or possession who dies while serving on active duty, the Governor of that State, territory, or possession may proclaim that the National flag shall be flown at half-staff, and the same authority is provided to the Mayor of the District of Columbia with respect to present or former officials of the District of Columbia and members of the Armed Forces from the District of Columbia. The flag shall be flown at half-staff 30 days from the death of the President or a former President; 10 days from the day of death of the Vice President, the Chief Justice or a retired Chief Justice of the United States, or the Speaker of the House of Representatives; advert of the size genetics; from the day of death until interment of an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, a Secretary of an executive or military department, a former Vice President, or the Governor of a State, territory, or possession; and on the day of death

She was a great humanitarian and humble southern lady. Nuff said cheesers.

Why are the flags at 1/2 mast?

How heavy was the frost? Is it fluffy or hairy? If so there has been an air leak. If it pretty compacted you more than likely have a defrost problem. Depending on what brandsnd what kind of refrigerator it is you may be able to locate the defrost timer and turn it into defrost to help thaw it out.

Either the defrost cycle is no longer working, or the door mistakenly was left cracked (which has happened to me before)

You have to unplug the refrigerator, and let it sit out overnight to defrost. 

You can go through your refrigerator and throw away anything you don't want, and put the rest in a cooler overnight (unless you have a beer fridge somewhere)

Then plug it back in the next day,

If it's behaving normally you'll know the door was left cracked.  

If it comes back you know your defrost cycle is shot.

The freezer in my refrigerator is full of frost. It supposed to be frost free. Why and how do you fix it?  Any help would be nice 

There is also a wi. At-grade system , ground is plowed then gravel, no sand involved, you still end up with a berm type system in your yard, people generically refer to them as a mound system, these systems were developed back in the 1990’s by a couple researchers at university of Madison, hence wi. Mound, etc. was cutting edge back in the day, get a copy of your plan from the county…. Should be public record. Net

I believe they called it a "level-grade mound system". Saved us a grand or two compared to a standard mound system if I remember right but I never knew what it meant. I need to learn more about septic and mound systems. I appreciate the input everyone!

Junk4ice, it looks like the slope goes to the right, meaning water in mound is designed to flow towards that direction , the white pipes are probably observation tubes , can pop caps and look for ponding water to see how the mound is functioning….  Should be dry….A mound is built above existing grade , google wi mound system and view the cross section details, I wouldnt get too close to where mound fill meets existing grade….. a shallow till with light weight equipment staying 5’ away would be my call, that looks like the upslope side, so better than the downslope toe, you don’t want to create a problem that causes the mound to leak….also do when ground is dry, don’t want to compact soil around it either….checking with county or local guy isn’t bad advice either….
