I have been looking around for some nice slip bobbers and am wondering what guys think are the best they have used. Right now I have some foam ones and they work ok but not very durable. I have some thill center sliders but I have to add a lot of weight to get them to work with my rigs. Does anyone use those twist on weighted slip bobbers with the cut on the side?

I used to use the Thill slip bobbers exclusively. I would describe them as OK. My brother got me to try the Thill slip bobber with the copper insert. This was a great improvement over the regular Thill bobber.

I tried some slip bobbers from Gapen Fishing (www.gapen.com). These were a big improvement over the Thill bobber. The major advantage was that they can be used as a slip bobber and a regular bobber without re-rigging. I have purchased many items from this company over the years. It is a first rate company both in product and service.

Last month I came across a site that custom makes slip bobbers. (www.bentleyfishing.com.) I spoke with the owner and he suggested several of his bobbers for the type of fishing I do. They are the best slip bobbers I have found to date. The site has probably 20-30 different styles of slip bobbers. They are a little bigger than the thill bobbers but with only a slight increase in weight. They cast great and are very sensitive.

I have the thill, gapen, and the bentley bobbers in my tackle box. The bentley bobbers are my favorite.

I'm more of a tight line fisherman ,but the floats worked well in the weeds last weekend. I have gravitated to the "Easy On" slip bobbers because there's less work to get set up. To shift back to regular casting I, "easily" disconnect the float from the power pro line, slide the stop and bead to a snap and then un-snap the short flouro section with the bait and split shot. Notice: there is no knot tying or line cutting with a switch like this. I used to have a "Wing -it" slip float rigged to go on a rod with mono, but after a while the mono sinks too much on long casts. The best slip bobbers are the ones that get used because it's easy.

I like the Thill bobbers with the copper insert too, but the only issues I have with them is after extended use the bottom of the bobber with no insert gets grooves from the line and then the bobber can stick. My dad actually takes an additional copper insert and puts it in the bottom of the bobber too and he has no issues.

A cheaper route is to take a standard slip bobber and push a metal bead into the top of it. Works the same as a Thill with metal inserts. We've been doing that since I could walk (I'm 25 now). Just get metal beads that are slightly bigger than the opening at the end of the bobber.

Sort of off topic, but another thing I found to work well is to use braided line on my reels with a fluro leader. That way the slip knot slides on the braid and does not fray the line. I fished a lot with mono and fluoro and the knots would eventually fray and snap the line, especially when I moved them big distances. No longer happens with the braid, plus I now get solid hook sets, even when the bobber is a ways from the boat. Another plus is if I get a snag I generally only lose the hook and that little bit of leader line, my sinker is on the braid so I don't have the bobber slip off and start floating away.

I agree with CazTrait. I like the Thills with the copper or brass insert in it. They slide nice and hold up great. I have used others too but those are my favs.

I use Thill slip bobbers exclusively. I have noticed that I still have to add extra weight to the weighted bobbers to make them act he way I want them to act. Other than that the Thill slip bobbers are the best there is.

Thill Pro Series with the copper insert. Very easy sliding. Match the size of the float to the size of your jig/weight.

Best slip bobber ive used are the thill pro series with the brass gromet inside, i just wont switch back to anything else, large hole in the center, means very easy sliding of line through. And they make quite a few sizes.

You can get add on weights for the thill slip bobbers. I think I paid $2 for a package of them. Comes with small weights that slide over the bottom of the tube and an O-ring to keep it in place. They also sell the bobbers with the weights already attached.

I just picked up a couple of them. They are new. They are called Duz-All. Look pretty nice. You can rig them mutiple ways. Slip thru the center, slip thru the bottom, no slip etc.
