Check out Okuma celilo, bought one last summer and was pleased with the quality for a cheap price rod from U.S. Fish.

Haf2 has a point. If you go to 8'-6" rod you might pick up a medium action boat trolling rod and use it to cast. I tried it once when my expensive graphite 8 footer broke, and was suprised how far I could cast a small spinner with a cheap trolling rod.

Your should be able to find a decent one for less than a hundred dollars. After the spring season and the fish go deeper, I use nothing but long rods. The 8 and 9 footers are sweet .............

Check Amazon. I just bought a rod for under $100.

the brand was not known to me....Berrypro.

good reviews. Haven’t used it yet, but impressed with the looks of it. variety of length. I think mine is 8’6” steelhead rod.
