? for everyone on conditioning. I have been running my 2 dogs 1 yr and 6 months since beginning of Aug. Started slow at 1st, 30 min max and now up to 2-3 days a week hour and half sometimes 2 hrs depending on temp outside. They recover fine before the next run. ? I have is how long after say a 2 hr run through medium cover does it take for a dog to be back to 100%. In the past during hunting season I would hunt 2 days on and take 2 off. But my dogs were older and could handle it. I don't want to burn them out by running to much. Or have them get hurt. I don't run them through heavy crap either. Or try my best not to. If I cant walk through it ok I don't let them run in it. Neither has been dead after running and neither has been sore the day after either. Just wonder if I am running the 6 month to much.

There isn't a blanket answer for all dogs. Each dog develops differently. IMO you need to let the 6 month develop muscle mass, increase lung capacity, and not too fast where his bone structure develops at a different rate than his muscle. I would take it easy on the youngster. Talk to your vet. If you are doing this conditioning with ANY dog, make SURE they are on a quality high fat/calorie food, something like Purina Pro Plan Performance/Sport 30/20, when you are running, hunting.
