This is a "lake trout only" lake located 20 minutes west of Ignace, Ontario just south of Hwy 17. There are six deep fishing holes in the lake each up to 80 feet deep. The lakers are usually suspended at about 35-40 feet.
We fished the lake in mid-July 2016 and again in mid-August 2016. The "granite face" rock at the far southern end of the lake was a hot spot each trip. We easily caught our limit of two lakers each using down riggers and dipsey-divers to get our trolling spoons down to 35ft.
The water is cold, spring-fed and gin-clear.
We rented boats and tackle for a fee of $100US per boat from Cliff and Denise, the owners of Cobblestone Lodge. Bring your own portable fish finder.
A second option is to launch your own boat ($5US) from the same lodge.
I had great success with a 5" Doctor spoon with a walleye print pattern and trolled at 2.3mph. Trolling spoons in the 4-5" length and black/orange colors worked well too.
