Looking to go to Lac Seul, I never been there and don't have any idea where to stay, what area to stay in, would like to fish for walleye, looking for Maybe June unless someone has a better time. Would need to rent a boat. We would also hire a guide. tried the internet but it is over whelming, and still don't know what area to look at.

Returned Saturday the 24th from our annual houseboat trip.  We fished 5 full days and 2 part days.  As always Lac Seul Floating Lodges provided a great house boat and a great experience.  The weather was hot and stable which could also describe the fishing.  We only had one day which brought rain showers. Water temps were 70-78.  For the week my fishing boat of 2 people caught 812 fish.  We released all but a few 12 inch eyes for supper a couple nights.  Fishing is usually hot on Lac Seul for us but this year it was on fire.  Speaking of fire we did have 2 days where smoke had rolled in rather thick.  We mainly fished the Taylor Island and Pine point area.   Walleye fishing was great.  Most mornings provided 80-100 fish in a few hours.  After that we would go look for pike and smallmouth bass. Walleyes this year were mainly caught in 10-16 fow.  They seemed to be concentrated on main lake points.  Although the mayfly hatch was just starting which will draw some fish back into the bays.  We had some mornings where the average fish was 20 inches.  They seemed to be schooled up by size.  We caught many in the 18-23 inch range.  Our biggest was 27.5 inches.  We mainly caught our walleye trolling crawler harnesses at .8-1 mph.  We used 1 oz trolling weights or bottom bouncers.  We did get some on jigs as well.  We also caught a fair amount on jerkbaits and spoons off the first break.  Pike were scattered this year.  We caught them in weedy bays, on points, on small rock flats and on the first break off rocky shorelines.  We tossed swimbaits, jerkbaits and spoons for pike.  We also caught a few on topwater. Many pike over 30 were boated by us.  The biggest was 38.  We lost a handful between 37-40.  Overall it was steady and size was good.  Smallmouth were on fire.  We caught them on traditional rock spots and also on sandy, stumpy points or random islands.  They even bit up in the weeds at times.  We mainly threw topwater or spoons but when the got picky we tossed jerkbaits. Some days we could see them but they wouldnt bite.  Thats when the jerkbait did best.  They were definitely chasing baitfish on the surface for most of the week.  We did see some on beds too.  Our biggest were 19.5 inches.  We caught a handful that size.  We didnt fish for perch but caught a fair amount by accident in weedy bays and fishing for walleye on the mainlake.  Size was good.  Until next year, tight lines.
