Clark’s Resort keeps deposit & won’t give a credit for 2021 even when it is their gov’t who kept us from making our trip in July. I view this as theft just like someone stealing $1200 from my house.

Shocking but dont be surprised if the Canucks dont let us dirty Americans into there country next year either. The coastal elite that control the country have little concern for resorts catering to Americans in the central part of the country. Just saying. Dont think all will be well next year.

The thing to remember is that while the vast number of lodges offered to roll deposits over to 2021 there is no guaranty that all of those lodges will open next year and those deposits will be lost.

Wow, I agree with you Brent, seems pretty bold of them.  To me, seems like they are maybe expecting 2021 to be a no go, and they are trying to grab your money and run.  At least other resorts have the decency to give full refund or full deposit into next year.

That’s exactly what they are doing PW, applying your original half (they are keeping the first half no matter what) to 2021 or 2022 depending on when they can open again.

However, since Clark’s kept the first half of your original deposit, the remaining half isn’t sufficient to reserve a cabin, so you have to send them more money, in hopes they don’t do the same thing again.

In short, Clark's initially says we're going to keep your deposit just because we can.  Fast forward to present day, Clark’s policy is to prevent us from keeping 100% of your money, you're going to have to send us more money.  Sounds reasonable lol

It’s actually a fairly audacious policy...

Clark’s is already keeping at a minimum 1/2 of everyone’s deposit, which in the realm of Canadian cancelled Covid trips,  is by far in the minority when compared to other camps.

With Clark’s new policy, you can mail them 1/2  a deposit for a second time, and hope they don’t keep it again like they’re doing this year.

Basically, they’re taking 1/2 your money this year, and there’s nothing you can do about it, but they will roll your deposit over to the following year, if you pay 1/2 of your original deposit again.

Who would sign up for that deal???

Pay your deposit twice and a get a cabin once....  Or maybe not....

Another data point about the owner’s mentality, I wrote all this up for the Ontario Better Business Bureau and Clarks owner Wayne replied I have been harassing them. That is what he calls 3 emails where I simply requested our money back or that I would alert the fishing community of their position. Keep this in mind when selecting a resort in the future and please tell your buddies

That is absolutely wrong and if I were you I would get on as many forums/platforms as you can and tell your story. At a minimum they should have worked out some type of a deal with you.  $1200 x how many I wonder... Since little expense this year, I bet they are making a pretty good profit this year.  Wonder if they even paid their employees...
