Got my new boat with Optimax 90 HP motor. Trying to find a place to get some Optimax DFI Oil. All Walmart has is QuickSilver TC-W3 2-stroke oil. But that is not what is recommended for the Optimax Motors. The DFI oil is expensive online. $43 per gallon compared to $23 for the TC-W3.

Dealer wants $45+tax per gallon. And he buys it in bulk. Not getting a deal there. I guess it's Farm and Fleet if they have it in stock. One local store does not have it. Will have to try the other direction. Or stop somewhere on our way up north that may have it.

Got it at Farm and Fleet for $35.99.

I second what Big Ed says about running QuickCleen.  I alos used to save my oil jugs and buy from hter deal in bulk, he would just re-fill my jugs.  But then he got greedy or somehting, because he started charging only $1.50 less per gallon, which just made it not worth the hassle.

Wow Boat Doc has it for $28 bucks a gallon, I would jump on that if you are close.  I have owned a couple of Optis over the years, and that is the only oil I have ever used in them.  Sure it might be a bit spendy, but really why pay that much money for a boat to burn non reccomended oil.  I spoke with an Oil rep once (I think he worked for Lucas Oil), and he said definately run the Opti Oil in an Opti, it has some addfitives and such that Mercury calls for in theoir oil specs.

I buy mine at The Boat Doc in Lomira. He used to do bulk oil, but changed this year. It's $28 a gallon or they were doing 3 for $80.

Definatly use the proper oil.  Check with your Mercury dealer see if he sells it bluk. I buy bulk and my guy sells it to me for 27.00 a gallon. I usually buy 15 gallon at a time. I am thinking about buying a 55 gallon drum next year to save a little more money.   Also use Mercury Quikleen in your fuel. It will reduce your carbon build up.

Farm and fleet has the quicksilver DFI oil for 34.99 a gallon. I have used it exclusively in my Opti since 09.
