Terrova Lost Drive Power

I thought I would run this problem in LL Forum before I called Minn Kota Service.

Was trolling 1.0 mph with my Terrova Bow Mount this weekend and tried to turn the speed up when I hit some normal sized boat waves to maintain trolling speed.  The remote indicated higher speed but for some reason the prop totally stopped turning.   The motor still turns fine and there is plenty of power in the batteries.   It is a 24V setup.   Please let me know if you think you might no what the problem is.

Thanks ~ RML

Simple problem and repair. Wonder what cause the melted wires in the first place.

Just got the call from John at Anchors-A-Way and the problem was minor. Turned out to be a couple of melted wires.

Tim,

I brought the motor in last week but have not heard back yet as to the problem.   I will post once I find out what the problem turns out to be.

RML did you take your motor in for service? What was the problem?

I had this happen to me once...it was circuit board.    I have basically broke everything on that power drive at one time or another.

Thanks Scott for the suggestion.   Yes I did try the foot pedal and same thing.   I can turn but cannot get the prop to turn.

Did you try the foot pedal as well as the remote?

That stinks, hope it is covered under warranty.  Let us know what the end result is.

Tim,

Thanks for asking.   No the problem has not yet been determined.   I contacted MinnKota service and they suggested I check the voltage to the motor.   If that checks out they told me to bring it into service as it will probably be the board.

RML, did you figure out what was the problem with your trolling motor?
