MY new Bass Tracker Pro Team (actually a 2010) does not have a front locator. The boat has a 24 volt trolling motor. My question is can I install my Lowrance X96 by connecting to the 24 volt system or do I have to connect to the 12 volt starting battery?

As already stated, connect to your starting battery, but also when running a home run wire (from your battery to the front of the boat), remember that you're going to have current loss over the run. Use a heavier gage wire than recommended. For an X96 (lower power unit), I think that I would go with a 10 gage wire.

always try to run locator wires away from all others, preferably opposite side of boat

MM, Thanks for the reply. That is what I thought, just a pain in the butt determining how to run the wires.

Connect to the starting battery, with an inline fuse near the battery. Connecting to one of the trolling batteries will give you very high chance of electrical interference on the sonar.
