lund lifetime warranty
6/10/09 @ 4:55 PM
Just wondering how others handled poped rivets with the lifetime warranty. I just got word that they will have to take off the floor and do a complete over look at the hull with a rivet gun. The reason being this is the second year in a row with a dozen or more of rivets poping. Some being the same one. They claim something may be lose bouncing on the hull. So wondering if i have any chance of having this issue covered by the warranty. thanks again

Only thing i knew about the rivets is that they followed a straight line from just below the drivers side counsle to the the passeneger side. every single rivet in that line was hanging out. Wendts marina, and M-W marine both said that something tore lose inside the hull ripping the rivets out. Lund would not say other than normal wear and tear. I especialy love how they fixed the weld on the live well. They simply caulked it. I will for sure take my time and read over every little detail on the warranties and what not from this point on when buying a new boat. Guess I was a little excited in buying the boat i've allways wanted. Did try calling and getting through to lund but kept getting refered back to the local dealer. Just trying to speak of the displeasure that I have with their service.
unfortunately you bought that boat from the worst marine dealership in the state. I bought a new Lund from them too and it was the worst buying experience of my life. I would not buy a quart of oil from them.
I can see why they won't give you any help. They wouldn't and couldn't help me with a one month old boat. I had to take mine to a different dealership to have it repaired correctly.
I hope you can get your problem solved. I guess Lund boats are not what they are all cracked up to be.
Using a pro-rated schedule to decide how much of the expense to cover seems deceptive when combined with a supposed "lifetime warranty". I'd be pissed if I had rivets popping out and then had to shell out $2,500. This is what their website had to say:
Warranties include…
* Lifetime Warranty on double-riveted seams.
* Lifetime Warranty on all plywood panels, related materials and labor.
* Three Year 100% Bow-to-Stern Parts and Labor Coverage with applicable exclusions - ask your Lund dealer for details.
* Transferable.
* Some exclusions apply - please see your Lund dealer for details.
2003 1775 pro-v. You nailed it on the head where I bought the boat from. and for the warrantee I will have to read it again to see. I just remember it stating big words LIFE TIME WARRANTY on the hull. As for Lund they did pull that up and claim it is a pro active warranty the loses value through the years. So they covered 20 percent of the cost that is it, and it still ran me over 2500. I just expected more from lund then this. I have heard from others about issues with lund in backing their warranties but so far I have had it the worst. For everyone else sake I wish them the best.
I'm just going to take a wild stab at the selling dealer.............Maine Marine & Ski?
What you are being told is bull. A life time warranty is just that. That statement erases the normal wear and tear. They should repair it for free and you should have to provide the transportation to and from the factory. Sounds like another company not standing behind their warranty. I would research this a little further and if necessary have an attorney write a letter for you to Lund. This will sometimes get them do the right thing.
First off I am the original owner. 2nd the place that it was purchased from dosent deal with lund anymore, so that was a hassel in its self. Ended up going through M-W Marine. They claim it was from normal wear through time on the water, so thats their reasoning for not covering it. I was lost in their thinking on the whole situation. I was under the impression that if I did something wrong its my fault not the other way around. As for the insurace they would only cover it if I hit something with the boat. They will not cover normal wear and tear. Yet I cant belive this issue with the hull is normal wear and tear. The reason I bought a lund is my thinkng its a great boat. Right layout, lifetime hull warrante. Well they took me for a sucker.
Very upset with Lund right now. So much for their life time warranty on the hull. Just got the boat back $2500 is what it costed me to have the rivets all replaced. Inusrance wouldent pic it up either, because I dident hit anything with it. This is not just 1 case but I have talked with several others having issues with lund in the past about warranties and getting shafted as well. This was the first lund I ever owned and will be the last.
