Just to update people out there on fisher boats. They are junk had 3 and 2 of them the hulls split and the compant Tracker does not stand behind them. This is the same company that makes Tracker boats yes so i assume they are junk also.I have lost thousands on the 2 boats with the split hulls and i dont want anyone else to have the same fate.I have vowed to tell as many people as i can about these lame boats. They claim to have a guarentee of a lifetime on the hull but when it splits in multiple place on 2 different boats. Then all they wanna do is have your boats shipped to Missouri and rewelded taking have a summer to do so.I ask you do you want the thing rewelded after it splits multiple times the 1st time? These boats are simply junk and theres no way around it so do yourself a favor and buy another brand of boat. Angry

I, too, am sorry that you have received bad luck in your boat purchasing experiences. Your logic is flawed somewhat though by bashing Tracker by saying Fisher is junk. So what you're saying is that Tracker, Nitro, Sun Tracker, Tahoe, and all other brands under the Tracker family of boats are junk and that's just not fair.

Question though (and I may have the time line screwed up), but did you say that AFTER you had a local guy weld the boat, you THEN contacted Tracker and requested a full refund? Bad dealership or not, I think I would have contacted the manufacturer for warranty information immediately and not wait for the problem to be "fixed" first.

Maybe you got a good deal on your 3rd boat because the dealership wanted to off-load their non-selling inventory?

I have heard several sad tales from people with many different brands of aluminum boats, including some custom made models. The common factor in all these sad tales was the fact that they were ALL in welded aluminum boats. To me it was an easy decision when I bought my last boat to stay with riveted.

A friend of mine owns a 2006 fisher 170 pro hawk with a 75 opimax. He bought the boat at the Fishing Hole a.k.a R&R Sports in 2006. He told me he paid close to 20 grand for the boat. I thought to myself are you serious! what a waste of almost 20 grand. I own a Ranger and man what a difference its like a Cadillac vs a yugo.

I have a 16ft deep v Tracker about 2 years old now and I haven't had a bit of trouble with it. I have used it all over Wisconsin and caught tons of fish in it. I don't know much about fishers and I guess I should be glad about that, but so far I am very happy with my Tracker. Big Smile

You hit it right on the head. I could lay out the whole horror story, but there would be some that would think I was exaggerating. It was the the worst buying experience of my life. I actually sold the boat after everything was corrected, because every time I went out in it, I saw the salesman's face. I cannot believe that they can stay in business. Puke

There is a reason that a fisher or tracker boat will cost you about 60% of what the same sized Lund, Alumacraft, Crestliner, or other quality boat will. The motor cost is the same, so obviously there is a quality difference in the boat. I wouldn't go so far as to say that Tracker and Fisher are junk, but they are certainly of a much lower quality than the other names. For a guy that fishes a dozen or so times a year, and only fishes in relatively calm water, a fisher boat would probably last them a long time. If you are hard on a boat and fish a lot, you are likely to have issues. I got 6 years out of my Fisher before I got a 4 inch split in the hull. It was time to upgrade anyway. The quality level between my Alumacraft and my Fisher are so far apart that you can't even compare them.

if you don't want to spend the money for a quality new boat, buy a quality used boat instead of one of the "cheapies" out there.

I'm sorry to hear of your problems with Tracker/Fisher boats. I spent a summer and a half with problems with a Lund/Honda and I know what you went through. The problems that I had were strictly dealer related. Once I got a hold of Lund and Honda they sent me to a different dealer. He fixed the problems in less than a week and everything was perfect. So, the moral of my story is, a dealer can be the most important part of your boating experience.

Spend as much time checking out dealers as you do selecting what boat you want to buy.

I hope this season goes better for you. I feel your pain. There is nothing like being in Wisconsin and not being able to get on the water for weeks at a time. It just about drove me nuts!

Oh, the good dealer was in Princeton and the bad one was in Racine. I hear they have a winner for a mayor too.

Heres the scoop my 1st fisher was fine but after 2 years i wanted a bigger boat so i upgraded .Ater 4 months of having a pro avenger it started taking on water badly.I then took it into the dealer where i bought it only to find out the hull was cracked in multiple places. The salesman at the dealership told me that i wasnt going to want that boat back because it was a lemon and that after they would reweld it it would not look good at all.So they sent it out to be rewelded locally and it looked terrible.I then went to fisher and being that the boat was damn near brand new requested a new boat. They just told me all they would do is give me fair market value for the boat.Well after 2 weeks of haggling i took that and the dealer gave me a good deal on another fisher.Thinking i did get a lemon i upgraded once again into a hawk and after only 4 months guess what it began taking on water. So i took it in again and guess what the hull was cracked on this boat in 5 places.Once again the dealer was very upset with tracker and called them and told them it was totally unacceptable for 1 customer to have 2 split hulls on 2 new boats within a year.Once again Tracker did nothing .This time i wanted a full refund of my money for the price of the boat the motor was fine and i was willing to keep that.So Tracker once again wanted me to send this boat back to Missouri to be rewelded.Well after talking to the salesman who sold me both boats he told me the 1st one was sent back there and rewelded brought back to the dealership and resold only to have the welds all break again anyway. So after the hassle on my Hawk i just haad my insurance company write it off as a total loss.I would also like to say the dealership i bought these boats at no longer sells Fisher boats because there were so many people bringing them back because of hull issues.I just happened to be the guy who got 2 lemons in a row lucky me.All i am saying is buyer beware the comapny that sells these boats TRACKER claims these hulls have a lifetime guarentee the only thing guarenteed is they will split and you will be sitting home all summer well your boats in Missouri hopefully being repaired. This just should not happen to boats that are only months old much less only a few years old.So there hopefully that has clarified what happened just do yourself a favor and buy another brand.

When it comes to boats, like most things, you get what you pay for. Fisher boats are inexpensive for a reason. They use thinner aluminum, and are known to have issues with hull strength. My question is, if you had one that the hull split on, why would you buy a second one, or a third?

I had a Fisher boat for 5 years. Yes, the hull split. I probably wouldn't take another one if somebody gave it to me. A used alumicraft, lund, crestliner, etc is far more of a value than a new fisher or tracker.

I'm sorry, but if your going to bash a company, at least write it so we can understand it. Did you have two or three of their boats? How many did they take back to the factory? How many times did they take each boat back? I'm sorry you had problems with Fisher boats, but people have to understand what the problems where. I read your post three times and still don't know. Wondering
