I've owned my 169c Ultracraft since 2009 and couldn't be happier with it.The only problem is fueling it likes to spit back at you so I fuel using a can.I use the boat on Green Bay and have had it in some rough weather but always got me back.Would recommend the boat to anyone. For your own info I have a 60 hp etech and will do 24 mph.
Misty River was made in Canada and is out of business. Talked to an outfitter on L.O.W. af few years back that had 2 brand new ones that were falling apart!! UltraCraft/MistyHarbor is a small co. in Iowa/USA. I own a 16CT tiller, not much in the whistles&bells dept./ but a solid boat for the bucks - not everyone can afford a RANGER ----
Ultra crafts boats are the Bayliners of boats.Use them easy and take care of them and they work for the average fisherman.
If you want a good boat, spend the money and buy a well made boat and use it.
Sorry to beat this old forum,But i have worked on boats for over 30 years and i call it like i see it.
Marble Eyes,
No problem. Not interested in arguing. By the way, I've have problems with every major brand at least once (Apple, Sony, Lund, Alumacraft). It happens. I'm giving you the other side of the coin. I wouldn't take one experience and let that cloud others decisions. Do the research, you'll find these welds are spot on with Alumacraft. Have a great day.
Guys,
I bought a 2008 Ultracraft 169 Stealth with a full windshield used last summer with a 2010 90hp Optimax for 11k. The boat took most engineering from Alumacraft with the double welded hull etc. I called a number of dealers who sold the line in the past or hadn't at all. These boats are well built. I used all summer in rough water and when you hit a wave, it is solid. Is it a Lund? Of course not, but neither is the cost. The things it is missing are the interior amenities, rod holder railing, attention to detail etc. This is not a biased Ultracraft boat owner defending the brand. I could care less about that. Just wanted to give a first hand review. Don't be worried about the engineering of this boat line. Marbleeyes....by the way, you have your facts all screwed up. Ultracraft is made by the Kevcon Corporation in IOWA.
personally i have not owned one...a friend of mine in the u.p. has one..his basic reason for buying was the price..they were cheap..now i've rode in about every brand in the market..ya definitely do not want this boat in rough water, andif you are looking at fit n finish..you are looking at the bottom of the class...............most times folks are looking for reassurance or acceptance of their choices..not real info.........2 big names i've owned that you could not give me again....? lund and alumacraft...........do i really think fisherman have much input on layout or interior design...HE*L NO!!!!!
lots of hyperboly in the industry and large profits
i would not waste your time, to each there own my buddy has one. very chaeply built boat. he has already split his hull bought bought from am in shawno, supposeded to be lifetime warranty on the hull. boat is made in canada so instead of paying the bill to get the boat back to canada they had a local shawno welder weld the main seam on his bow back together. pretty much explains why i would never in my life own one or tell someone to look at/ buy on of these. yes they are cheap but you get what you pay for. not a very wide or deep boat either his is a 17.5ft. please do alot of homework on this brand before purchasing one. alot of better boats out there for a few more grand. to each there own and there own budget and what they can afford but i would lookat a differant manufacturer and save yourself time and headaches.
