Looks like I'm going to be pulling the trigger soon on a new boat. 175 Alumacraft Competitor with 150 4 stroke Merc with double bubble counsels. 24v 80lb Ipilot link with two Helix 9s. Anyone been in these boats? I'm upgrading from a 96 Tracker 16ft prov angler. The new boat will have a stainless prop installed from the dealer. What can I be looking at for top end speed with just one person and no gear? I'm told I should be seeing something in the upper 40s. I was looking at a Lund 1775 impact but the price was a hair (not much) higher. I started looking at a Tracker Targa 18ft with walk through windshield but the hull issues scared me away.

If anyone has ANY input on my boat of choice I would like to hear it. Price, performance, good, bad. I hope to be able to fish Green Bay and Bago on good days and be able to fish Petenwell on days where my old Tracker wouldn't cut it.

I have an Alumacraft 175 CS with a 115 Yami. 42mph is about it. Can't see a 150 getting upper 50's, perhaps 48 - 49.... Great boat though.

Wow, upper 50's on a 17' aluminum boat with a 150 is screaming.  I would expect that 17' Alumacraft wtih 150 to hit upper 40's, may touch 50 under perfect conditions.

First off That alumacraft is a very nice boat.   I bought a Starcraft starfish 176sc mainly fish bago, Green Bay, and Lake Michigan and love it great riding boat in big waves and can get mid 40s out of it with a 115 4 stroke yami.   I've seen them with a 150 etec h.o. On the back and they will push upper 50s with a ss prop   The reason I went with the Starcraft was that it has a 6year transferable warranty on anything interior and lifetime transferable warranty on the hull.  Also I paid 25k for everything I wanted on it while a new alumacraft or Lund setup the same was 35k.  save the ten grand or buy a kicker and track system.  Any other questions you can pm me.
