I purchased a alumacraft 1450A With a 60Hp 2 stroke Yamaha on it..
I am wondering if the engine is to big for the boat

And you can bet that if a warden or lake sheriff looks that boat over, you can bet you'll get a ticket as it that obvious that its way overpowered.  Maybe with that kind power you can out run them. NAW

I had a mirro deep fisherman and that was rated for a 35HP.  I thought that was a bigger boat for a 14'er. 



I actually looked at a used boat once and it was decent, but when I looked at the rating plate I saw that the guy had too big of motor on it so I left.

If it is overpowered getting insurance will be tough.   Can you say Rocketman!  I think that might be a little unsafe...

Wow that seemed like to much for the boat, so I googled it.

Max is a 30 HP on Alumacraft 1450AW.

What does the rating plate on the boat say?
