Wheels for boat lifts

I'm looking to add wheels (4) to my boat lift to make it easier to take in and out of the water in the spring and fall. My shoreline is fairly flat, so it makes perfect sense to add them.

My question - Can you leave the wheels down if they are rated heavy enough, or is that just asking for trouble? Thanks in advance for any input you may have!

I have looked into this as well. I just didn't see a good way of making it work. Now when we don't just hire it done 4 tire innertubes will float any size lift. Depending on water depth and ice heaving what we have also done is pull them out on the ice and let them fall through and then just adjust as needed.

I wouldn’t leave it on the wheels, it could roll into deeper water or flatten the wheels from the weight of the boat .  The wheels are hollow and thin to keep the weight down.
