Mercury pro xs backorder

My new boat was delivered at the end of April. The dealership delivered it with a different motor than I ordered. They are letting me run a 2019 200 hp 4 stroke until my 200 hp pro xs comes in which was supposed to be July/August. I received a call on Wednesday and the dealership is now claiming November of 2020 for my motor. Personally I can’t believe this is possible.... Anyone have any info that can either confirm or deny that it will be 18 months before I see the motor I ordered?

Westfield,

Thanks! Definitely enjoying it. This boat is rock solid and built for serious fishing. Been putting some walleyes in it but haven’t been out as much as I’d like.

Was headed out the door this morning to hook up the boat and go plugging for musky. Noticed a hot pocket box on the ground behind my truck... then noticed garbage bags strewn about in the woods.... yep bears climbed the sides of my 2 week old Toyota tundra and got into the 4 bags of garbage. Ugghh

All I can say is damn that's a beautiful boat! Even if your boat came temporarily with a 50 horse motor on it I would be out there enjoying that boat.

I didn’t know the 200 Pro XS was a V/8.

Thanks Tim and bugle, some good info. Yes the more I think about it, 18 months just doesn’t make sense. Trying to get me to settle with the v-6 maybe. Not gonna happen.

Mercury is behind on these motors that is a fact.  Novermber of 2020 seems a little far off.  Your dealer is telling you that the motor you ordered in 2019 won't be delivered till the end of 2020, rather strange.  On the other side of the coin, that Pro XS is a sweet motor.  Look at it this way, not sure if you turn your boat every so often or keep them for a while.,  You can beat up this motor and get a brand new one no charge in year, hopefully thought you have been compensated in some way.  But yeah I would be a bit iritated too!!

My cousin bought a Lund 2075 in February and picked it up in April. It has a 300 HP Pro XS on it. No waiting. He did buy it from the largest Lund dealer in the country.

BTW. That motor is sick! It sounds more like a Camaro than a boat motor at startup.

I guess what I’m looking for is any info from other guys trying to get these motors 200 hp and above.

Or anyone on lake link with some inside knowledge or friends with knowledge at mercury dealerships maybe.

The pro xs is a 4.6 liter v8 with better lower unit compared to the regular 200 hp 3.4 liter v-6 4 stroke. Huge difference. And my boat isn’t underpowered with the current motor but it’s not what I was hoping for either.

Scrub, you’re not a very smart man then. 10 k plus a 15k motor and you wouldn’t take it? Lmao. That’s interesting to say the least.
