Just bought a 1994 warrior sc 177 eagle 2 days ago 1st fiber glass boat . Wanted to protect the keel.. Was looking at blogs and reviews on the keel guard then saw an article stating that Line-x the maker of truck bed liners do boats and its a lot better than the do yourself stick and peel Keel guard.. Any input ??? taking boat tomorrow for estimate
keel guard vs Line X spray
Get a good keel guard and not a spray on liner.
Thanks Fish Hound, will do!
No one has ever used or heard of anyone using the Spray on bed liner for a keel Guard
Try going to the KeelShield web page you were researching and click on "KeelShield Length" drop down and it tells you how long for length of boat.
Just did some research on the Keel Shield and seems like a good product. Just bought a new Crestliner(1750). Question: How many feet of this needs to be purchased? Thanks
I have the cheaper keel guard (keel shield) on my glass bass boat. This will be open water season 6 with it. Boat was probably in the water 2x a week or more from April-Nov every year it's been on. Beached on sandbars alot too. It's on as solid as it was year one. I bought mine myself but just had my dealer install that year while my boat was being winterized.
Having bought my first fiberglass boat and beaching it in the sand for a couple of years I wore the keel all the way threw to the metal frame and was taking in water. I bought a 3M Keel Shield and installed it according to the instructions. Now I know why they charge $120 for them. Three years of beaching it on rocks and sand and it still looks like a new Keel Shield
