I am starting the process looking for the best deal on buying a new outboard. I live in the Adams/friendship area.

I've been very happy with Galles Marine in the Rapids. They sell Yamaha and have very good service.

Agree with Keith’s! When I purchased a UTV, they were the lowest price I could find, and I looked at quite a few different places.

Also, for 4-stroke outboards, they are designed to be laid on one side or the other for transport, but it’s different between manufactures.

I’d call the dealer to find out what side yours should be laid on…

I bought a 50 Merc. 4stroke from American in Shawano drove all the way to Waukesha with it laying in the back of my truck, and mounted it on my boat,no problems! As long as it is not up side down should be no problem!

In 2020 I bought a new 25hp Mercury 4 stroke to repower my jon boat. I was able to haul it on its side. According to the owners manual there is a proper side to be up. The frame where the motor cover mounts had a flair to it to support the motor so it didn’t rest on the motor cover. Check the owners manual and look for the flair in the frame.

Am I able to lay down a larger Mercury 4stroke outboard for transportation? Or must it be transported vertical? Basically, will the oil run out?

NOT Don’s Marine! Do NOT let them even attempt to service your motor either.....

Rightfully so. I wouldn’t buy a pack of gum from them.

Norton’s sells Honda. They have been selling them forever and know them inside out. If I was going four stroke it would be Yamaha or Honda, but neither would be from Don’s Marine.

Not Don’s in Lodi for sure. I would buy from Norton’s Dry Dock in Princeton.
