Does anyone know where to find the number of bow, crossbow and gun license sales so far in Wisconsin?

I don't believe any of the information is accurate because of the "upgrade".

Fish... do you know where you saw that data?  I haven’t been able to find anything totally clear that shows xbow vs bow licenses.  The data I saw was in with the harvest stats but it shows bow as archery+patron+xbow upgrade and shows xbow as xbow+patron+bow upgrade.  Obviously lots of crossover there since patron is in both and upgrades are in both so can’t tell exactly bow vs xbow.

Yeah, he was way off with his guestimate. Data I found for last year as of 11/25/18 was:

138,600 Bow (down 13,572 from 2017)

88,895 Crossbow (up 6,234 from 2017)

One quarter of the licenses would have the CB number at 34,650

Hook, You mentioned you thought likely 1/4 the license holders for crossbow vs regular bow.  It looks to me like the numbers are far greater than that.  What makes you say 1/4?

Through Oct 8th:  Archery at 2500 bucks killed (36.3 % bucks of total harvest), Crossbow at 3223 bucks killed (43.9 % bucks of total harvest), youth hunt at 3137 bucks killed (47.7 % bucks of total harvest).

Just checking to see the harvest numbers and surprised to see crossbow 400 more kills than regular bow and likely only one fourth of the licenses sold. This no doubt is going to be a trend . Youth hunt did very well too.

Hardly a doubt there are some guys out there that wont buy a gun tag till they shoot a deer. Never mind they already have a grand plunked down on other hunting trips.

I wonder if part of the reason license sales are down is because for all practical purposes, you don't have to buy a license until you kill a deer and want to register it. As long as you hunt private ground. Surely not 50,000 people came to that conclusion.

Icebelt Wrote " when critters are on my land they are mine. " Everyone here would agree , they are not yours and you are not the king of England. That is a terrible attitude to have to the rest of the hunting public. , , and you only own 100 acres, big deal.  Those deer belong to every legal hunter on in this state. Agree ?

Sounds like it’s time for a freezer check at the Icebelt Compound.

Sorry ice belt, people came to America just so the landowner would not own the deer.

If you want funding for your DNR, you need the Missouri plan. A small part of your state sales tax goes to the DNR. Iowa has that approved but not until the sales tax goes up again.  Our DNR won't know what to do with all the money.

Chucker and PnY,  I am in agreement with both of your well worded statements. Well done!
