2021 Gun Season Big Buck Contest

It's that time again:  The Lake Link Big Buck contest!

The scoring is simple: number of points + inside spread. So  a 10 point buck with a 16”  spread is 26 points. 

Entry into the contest must be declared before the start of legal hunting hours on Saturday 11-20-21.

Entry fee is free as always, with 100% of that paid to the first place winner.

Muzzleloader season started today and runs through next week Wednesday. There could be some bucks taken with those guns between now and then. 

I’ll give it another day or so before officially declaring the winner.  I agree on bassmaster’s buck, not sure another year necessarily matters unless you are certain that’s a younger deer.  But with his mass, I have a hard time believing that deer is younger than 4.5.  If killing mature deer is the goal, I think you succeeded.  I read somewhere that the average whitetail at full maturity will only hit about 130”.  Not every buck will blow up, regardless of age.  That is for sure a trophy in my book, just based on the mass alone!

Keep trying lundy would love to see it. 

I cant get a picture to download, but it does not really matter.  Happy with a heavy rack 8 point,  14" spread.  Love seeing all the pictures.

Bassmaster had you waited another year that deer would've been dead, either by one of the neighbors or hit by a car! That's a nice deer in anyone's mind I think!

I tried to stretch that little ten pt. Did not work. Only 16.5 in. He is very thick and heavy but I should of given him a year. 

I filled my buck tag, a real whopper lol. 4 points + 7" spread = 11

I am happy with it, so that is all that counts.

8 pointer with 14 inch spread=22

Shot tuesday evening just before close.Did not find him that evening but did the next morning.

Didn’t measure the spread. Not the one I was after but I guess he’s gonna have to do. 10 point I will measure the rack again when I get back this weekend. And dude I hope I get my entry and in plenty of time this year.

Took a 15” 6 pt with out brow tines this morning. My son took a 14” 6 pt without brow tines yesterday afternoon.I forgot to enter him in the contest.  Their dad that’s probably 130” 6 pt without brow tines is still out there. When I say no brows I mean they never grew them. Smooth as a baby’s butt! Lol. Some bad genes which we want out! Would’ve rather have taken the big boys that are around the neighborhood but these will do and they look pretty tasty. So I guess my score is 21”
