Going to Tennessee for the first time from July 7th-10th, I'd like to get a little fishing in. Gonna be landing right in Nashville and I saw this huge reservoir. Taking a look online and it shows that there is a good striped bass population. Any tips on where to go and what to use as bait? Would like to get my first one as its a bucket list fish. Anything would help!!

The extreme heat and humidity during that period mean you'll only have a brief window at dawn to fish, otherwise you'll have to wait until nightfall.

A couple years ago I stopped in Nashville on my way to Biloxi. We drove over to Percy Priest east of the dam at the top of the lake. We pulled into Percy Priest Lake Park. I just googled it to see what the name of the park was. There was folks fishing along the shore there catching Bluegills, Crappies, and Stripped and Spotted Bass. Thats what a guy in the parking lot told me. I could see them reeling in fish. The pans they was catching on bobbers. The folks catching the Stripped bass( not white bass) was throwing what looked like crank baits and possibly spinner baits of some sort. The parking lot is higher up than where the shoreline was. Huge body of water. This was 1st week of November.

Not fished J Percy but have fished for hybrids in KY. That time of year it will be ridiculously hot and humid. You basically have a couple hour window at first light or have to night fish. Might be able to catch them in the jumps first hour or two of daylight. The lake I have fished consistently has jumps out in front of the dam and where the river channel gets close to a steep bank. They use the bank to corral bait fish against. You'll want something you can cast a pretty good distance, I normally use decent size white rooster tail. If not fishing in the jumps find the thermocline on the lake and troll a deep diving crankbait one that gets down to at least 20' trolling take the hooks off and attach a 3 foot leader to back and tie on a white 1/4 oz feather jig and troll. If the thermocline is more than 20' you would need dipsy diver or something that will get you deeper. Good luck
