Selling an ATV?

Do i need my title to sell my ATV?

A possible buyer says ALL i need are the trail stickers & registration. 

Is this correct?

Few years back i was taking care of a transfer at the DNR counter. Rep behind the counter made a remark of the high amount of registered toys. I said, lets review please. Nearly half were sold units. We updated. I was not receiving renewal notices and most were registered to new owners. Basically DNR did not update my list of vehicles as they were transferring to the new owners.

After you sell it you will want to contact the DNR and have them remove it from your registered vehicles.  If you do not do that and the buyer never registers, it stays in your name.  Then if something happens with it, you'll be the first one they contact.  

I didn't do this once and 6 months later I got the registration renewal in the mail, that is how I realized it.  Its easy to do, just can send them an email with your customer number and registration/vehicle info.

Yes, all you need is your registration card and a bill of sale to complete transaction.

You as the seller will being signing the registration card as if you were signing a titled vehicle.
