I saw 4 or 5 bucks, one was a real big 6pt. I would guess near 20" wide. Snort weezed him into 20 yards. He didn't present a good angle so I passed. There is a big 10 and at least three bigger 8s around according to my neighbor's cams. I never saw any of them. My neighbor on the other side shot a small 6 and his SIL got a nice 8. My buddy shot a small 6. Back up Thursday after work.
Good Luck all!
Another year in the books. I hunted around home this bow season but my buddies went 2 for 3 during rutcation. Gun season was the best one we have had in a very long time. The snow and cold definitely helped. Everyone in camp saw deer which is a first. I saw deer every sit but two. We had 2 “first deer” and the kids were wacking and staking the does. The old men added 2 bucks to the pole. Can’t wait for next year
I changed my plans and didn't hunt from Nov 1 - 4 since it was so warm. Headed back out after the rain on 11/5 and hunted thru the morning of 11/11. Shot the first buck I saw all season at 8 a.m. on the 11th. Not much of a story. He came on the usual trail that comes from the north into the food plot and stopped on the edge when he got there. Didn't put the best shot on him, but he only went about 20 yards and fell over. Waited til 9 to get out of the blind and he was done.
He was a huge animal. I believe I've had him on camera as a 10 ptr now for this the 3rd year.
Hunted this past Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning. I saw 1 deer, a small buck, a spike and 3 does over the course of my sits combined. Nothing exciting as far as rut activity goes. I did notice 3 additional scapes opened up since I was last there. My neighbor shot a nice 8pt Friday morning.
I may hunt this coming Friday if I can get out of here Thursday after work. Then of course Saturday morning I'll switch over to blaze orange.
Good luck to those getting out this week!
Hunted all last week minus the rain out on Friday afternoon and Saturday. I'm not a fan of sitting in the rain. Action was decent early in the week then slowed a bit with the warmer days. Mornings saw the most action. Thursday morning was particularly good as was Sunday morning. I saw 15 bucks in total and 2 or 3 that were pretty decent but out of range. Nothing real big. Watched 2 bucks snort wheeze at each, a first for me. Scrapes are being ignored. Will be back up end of the week to give it another go.
Hunted mornings and evenings from the evening of 10/19 thru the morning of 10/24. Didn't hunt Saturday evening or Sunday morning. Didn't see much. Had 6 does and fawns come into the plot on Friday afternoon right at dark. Scrapes are opening up. Nice one on camera. All pics at night yet. Back out 10/26 evening thru 11/6 morning. Good luck to all! Weather doesn't look the best but oh well. Can't do anything about that.
Was up last weekend. I only ended up hunting Saturday morning, saw 1 spike and found 3 new scrapes. It was a nice cool morning sit.
Between the heat and catching up with a buddy hunting was not a top priority, and that's ok too. Had an event to attend in town on Sunday and was back home around noon.
Hunted the afternoon of the 6th thru the morning of the 9th and again the same on the 13th thru 16th. Not much to show for it. A doe and 2 fawns on 2 sits and that's it.
There was a scrape that opened up sometime between Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
Heading back out Wednesday the 19th thru the 24th then again the 26th thru Nov 6th. Weather doesn't look the greatest thru the 30th. Oh well. Grind it out.
