I went out on Saturday morning and evening.  My morning sit was mainly just to get out not necessarily shoot anything because it poured the whole time.  I sat in one of our rifle stands until 10am and didn't see anything.  I went back out around 4pm and the rain had stopped.  I ended up seeing 4 does and 2 fawns, they were not moving fast at all.  Sunday morning I went out for a few hours and didn't see anything, got to my stand location first thing and noticed that a squirrel halfway chewed through one of the straps of the stand I just hung last week.  I'm glad it was noticeable because if I tried to step on it I'd have probably taken a tumble.

Overall it was just nice to get in the woods again.

Marquette County

Hey y’all!  I’m new here and wanted to share my first archery buck!

I bowhunted a bunch in highschool(well over a decade ago) without a whole lot of success, but I decided to try it again this year and take it a bit more seriously.

Called him in and shot back on Oct 28th.

Spending new year’s up at the cabin with the wife. Figured I’d sit out one night and see if I could fill my doe tag. Today was beautiful, sunny and not much wind so I decided to go sit in one of our ground blinds and if I happened to get an opportunity at a doe I would take it. Low and behold a single doe came by at 20 yds about 10 min before dark and I let her have it. I hit her a touch forward but still got a pass through and hit both lungs. She ran about 50 yds and piled up. A good end to the season/year.

Sat yesterday am I’ll 10.  Saw  doe and a fan around 8am, 150 yards across a crp field.  Decent 8 pt checked them out, couldn’t grunt him over.  Fun sit.

Well done Nut.  Still waiting on a buck.  Anytime in a tree there is a chance.

Finally got it done.

Shot him at November 12, 9:30 am. I was very lucky to get him. I wanted to sit in my favorite buck killing maple tree stand that morning but it was all flooded.  I then went to the west ground blind where my grandson shot his buck. I sat until around 9:00 and saw a 6 point and a nubby. So then I walked over to check out my ladder stand on the west fence line. I have not used it for a couple years. The deer sign looked good so I decided to climb up. I was enjoying the sun and remembering past times I sat there and saw deer. Just 5 minutes later I then hear this cough behind me and in comes this 8 point buck. I decided right away he was a shooter and hoped I would get a shot. I grab my bow and turn around facing the tree. The buck stops 5 yards away on the back side of my tree for a bunny shot.

You get up at 4:00 am and go out and hunt day in and day out and you start to get the feeling like it's not going to happen this year and suddenly you get your chance when you least expect it. Priceless.

Now looking forward to the gun season hunt with my grandson.
