I went out on Saturday morning and evening.  My morning sit was mainly just to get out not necessarily shoot anything because it poured the whole time.  I sat in one of our rifle stands until 10am and didn't see anything.  I went back out around 4pm and the rain had stopped.  I ended up seeing 4 does and 2 fawns, they were not moving fast at all.  Sunday morning I went out for a few hours and didn't see anything, got to my stand location first thing and noticed that a squirrel halfway chewed through one of the straps of the stand I just hung last week.  I'm glad it was noticeable because if I tried to step on it I'd have probably taken a tumble.

Overall it was just nice to get in the woods again.

Sat on the top of a bluff 40 yards from hay field edge this morning.  Saw meandering deer but not sure what.   Doe and two fawn.   Came in, almost got down wind.  Took the shot, went 40 yards tops.  Fun when a plan comes together.  Some scouting new public land rest of the day.  Great weather.

Obviously, it’s the DNR’s fault. They are the moral compass that dictate your sense of personal responsibility. If he wants to fill his seven tags, more power to him. It’s also legal to take your life savings to the casino and lose it. Is that the state’s fault too?

Feisty morning sarcasm aside, been seeing lots of doe and fawn activity. North central and central WI. Not much for horns yet. Lots of little bucks on camera. Good luck this weekend.

Yes!  Living in a State that lets us kill every deer on the landscape is awesome!

Congrats on the does! 2 buck tags and 7 doe tags for me this year, with the option to buy an additional 1 doe tag per day. What a great state we live in!

Sat for a few hours last night and shot this doe. Loving my saddle setup. Can go from standing to sitting easily. Very comfortable all around. Meat in the freezer!

I missed opening weekend, had no one to watch the kids.  First time in my life I missed opener.  Didn't feel too bad though with the weather we had.  Was able to go after work yesterday.  Ran out to a public spot and climbed up an oak tree that has been good to me in the past.  After about an hour I had a doe come by that gave an easy shot.  Got a nice pass through, she didn't even know she was hit.  Only ran about 25 yards and stood there for a second, then fell over.  Nice and easy one to start the season.  Not huge, I'm sure its just a 1.5 year old and had no fawns.
