2019 Archery Season
Congrats Bean. Glad for the happy ending.
Shot 8 per yesterday a.m. 15 yds broadside. Perfect double lung shot. Went about 85 yds into the river he went. Floated about a mile. Worst feeling ever! Went and got boat crossed the river checking corn fields no tracks coming out of river..... nothing!! Went for a walk down river edge to end of property. Dead deer in the river! Thank you God! Fun day again. Switchback strikes again
Congrats on the doe harvest! Excellent.
Shot a nice doe at 7 am this morning on the public land in Fond du Lac Co. She was 20 yds out and slightly quartering away. Arrow entered behind ribs and came out the chest. Broke the front shoulder on the off side. She died within seconds. I was amazed how bent up the expandable Swhacker broadhead was. The last 6 inches of the carbon arrow shaft was broken off and never to be found. The Centerpoint Patriot crossbow I'm using shoots at 390 feet per second. Totally awesome power for a 340 dollar setup.
Congrats on success. Common man-I know where they duck hunt hard, unphased by all the gun shots. Kind of similar to deer that set up shot by busy roads or neighborhoods. They learn to tolerate a lot sometimes. Hoping I get a shot at a doe or big buck. So far, only small bucks in range.
Congrats on the doe, John!
Kewaunee county Saturday and Sunday: lots of guys shooting in area in morning at ducks. Wonder if that educates the deer, all this shooting. So much water everywhere. Must be potholes in lots of places besides little rivers and creeks. Saw doe Saturday morning at 9:00 and fork Sunday morning at 7:30. Pm nothing but lots of winds. Swung back and forth in tree all weekend trying to remain still but warm. Woefully underdressed Saturday morning. But it was good to get out for first time. Still lots of green on trees with lots of yellow leaves on maples. Hard to see. Two weeks before I go out again. Leaves gotta come down. Public land so I no see "lots o does."
had a good weekend overall.. saw a pile of does on Friday evening and one shooter buck. No shots on anything. Saturday morning a handful of does came in at first light and was fortunate to take the biggest one. 30 yard heart shot and she piled up within 50. Meat in the freezer and planning to let the stands settle down a bit before really getting after them in two weeks. Good luck all!
Nasty weekend in Crawford county, Saturday afternoon wind sleet and rain was bare able in ground blind, but grandson in tree stand got soaked. Not much moving, he saw four doe and a small buck, me just squirrels.
