2019 Archery Season
Better picture. Wasn’t planning on taking a deer last night. Was setting daughter up on this buck but wind shifted and deer came out on wrong trail. 6 bucks came out in one group, one bigger than this one went the other way. The 5 circled her and came by me in an old gun stand. Couldn’t let him pass with bear and waterfall going on. The good thing is there is still two shooter out there for her.
Wing, lets hear the story. Nice deer, good luck on bears
Nice start Mr. Bass!
Saw one doe and a group of four toms from the stand this morning. Back at it now.
I shot my biggest buck to date on opening morning at 7:15 a few years back. I get the not hunting mornings thing but u just never know??
I'm a big believer in what Jeff Sturgis preaches. Just not worth the risk hunting mornings early season unless you have something on camera telling you otherwise. I guess if you have a really non-invasive stand to sit in it wouldn't hurt at all. Either way can't blame a guy for wanting to hunt whenever and as often as they can, because I totally would if i didn't believe in this haha good luck all!
Looking like its going to be in the middle/upper 40's and a sw wind opening morning for me in Marquette County. We have a ton of deer on the property again and a few nice bucks, but nothing too huge yet. I haven't been out on opening day in a couple years so I'm pretty excited. Two weeks ago we put in a new road giving me silent access to a new corner of the property which is usually really hot with deer year round. Brought my climber out and set it up in a spot that will be perfect for a southerly wind. I'm feeling very good about this year. I'll be happy with a nice doe or two this weekend, but ideally I want a nice buck to step out.
Packed up the truck last night. Just need to pack the cooler after work on Friday and bolt. I am also pretty excited about the opener, more than in recent years. Not sure why. I quit running cams a few years ago. I found them to be just another source of frustration that I don't need. Neighbors run them and are kind enough to pass along nice buck pics regularly.
Mishap with the bow last week and had to put new strings on it. I was able to get some practice time the last couple nights and things are starting to settle down out to 40 yards again so good confidence there.
Nice cold front moving. I'll probably only hunt Saturday evening, we'll see. Plenty of work to do around the cabin to keep me busy.
Good luck to all those getting out. Be safe.
