Does anyone know where I can get fresh or frozen large sardines? Fox cities or green bay area.  And does anyone have any luck with them.

The best variety of stuff can usually be found in Asian grocery stores. It doesn’t pay to call ahead because a lot of times if you ask for mackerel and they say “yes” they might only have ones that are ridiculously large.

You could use just about anything found in the frozen fish section in those stores. Scads are ok but not as good in my opinion as sand gobies....if you can find those. They tend to be a bit more expensive though. Mackerel work very well but over the last few years my go to has been octopus. Just cut off a chunk of it and use it.

You still do have to preserve these things the way you would preserve more traditional types of dead bait.
