I was just checking out the Frabill Headquarters hub style pop up shack. It is almost 6 feet by 12 feet and has an 80inch ceiling. Does anyone have one of these? I was just wondering how it was to set up something that big? I want it for the room for the whole family. The thing is that most of the time it is just my son and I and maybe one more adult. Is this something I can put up myself? Is is stupid to put this big thing up for just the two of us?

Well, all good news so far. I decided if my current shacks sells in the next few days I will go out and buy the new one. Im hoping I get some ice time with it yet this year then, I would hate to have to wait until next year to try it out.

Sounds like it would work for you. Like I said I have the clam version..knowing what I do now I would look at the eskimo 6x12 the advantage there is they put the windows at eye level when your sitting...much easier to keep an eye on tip ups.

I had the problem with a slippery floor if I shoveled out the snow. So I bought some of those 24x24" interlocking foam tiles for the floor. But I dont always do that sometimes I just set it up on the snow and fish.

There will be times when it is for two of us, but I want the room so that I can fit 3 adults and two children in if I have to. I want the size so a flip over is not going to work for me, even though they are pretty nice units.

if it is for 2 of you, use a flip over one. it's easier to move around and get on some fish.

good luck!

I ended up with a command post. a small saveings at gander at the time. yea, the hardest part is back in the container, reminds me of my electric fillet nife on that note. Watch that floor (The ice) you'll be skateing in no time without cleats. Or use a ruber mat like entry way mats, more to cart around though. . If it's snowing and your heating water will blead through, mostly at the center seam low part. going to try tent sealer for the seams. . good to be a LL user. . Skoll Paviskin.. Cool

I have the 6x12 clam. Pretty much the same. Easy to set up for one man, easy to break down for one man, need extra pair of hands to get it back in its carry bag though. Plenty of room for 3 or 4 to fish. I wouldnt say its ideal for a lot of moving around but it serves its purpose. I have used mine a couple times for overnighters.
