ESKIMO Ice Fishing Shelters

I know there are other threads on portable shanties, but I have not seen the Eskimo mentioned. For various reasons I won't go into great detail on right now, I have decided to get a cabin type shelter. Pullovers seem to be too heavy and popouts tend to blow around, plus I don't need to be real mobile and will use it mostly for card playing and watching tip ups (75%), so a cabin it is mainly because of the flat floor. I need a lighter one because most of the time (75%) I will be walking out and hauling it by hand. My dilemma is which one. Here is a list of the possibilities I have found so far and what I have gathered from all the other threads.

Clam 460 - 72"X48"X72"high 48lbs. - People don't seem to like the blue color as it lets lots of light in, otherwise few complaints. 2 windows. Not sure how it pulls through snow.

Frabill Speed Shack Cub - 72"X48"X72"high 75lbs. - People like the 4 windows and the fabric, but it is quite heavy compared to the others.

Shappell 3000DX - 70"X47"X68"high 48lbs. - Fabric is thinner and doesn't pull through snow very well. Otherwise comfort wise people love it. 2 Huge windows. Carpeted floor.

Eskimo Pro - 84"X62"X74"high 59lbs. - Have not heard much. Definitely the biggest and tallest size wise. Not too heavy. Green fabric (don't know how heavy duty fabric is or how much light gets through). Small air vents on the top of the sides. 2 windows. Not sure how it pulls through snow.

From the stats and looking at them on the net, I am leaning towards the Eskimo. Any comments on any of the models or other similar ones I have missed on ease of set up / tear down, pulling through snow by hand, durability, comfort, etc. will be much appreciated.

I really like my 2 person eskimo shelter, its really held up, no rust, rugged tent, poles and flooring. It's been a lot better than the Frabill my buddy has which he got the same year and is just made a lot cheaper along with his tent coming apart at the seams and his floor cracking.

my eskimo pulls great through snow, but one window blew out of it the zipper broke, i lost some teeth on the zipper, one of the plastic clamps on the ends of the poles broke off right away, but it gets me out of the wind, and away from the hustle and bustle thats going on off the lake. and i have caught many of fish out of it so im not complaining.

Nihsif...FARM and FLEET handles the Ardisam line. Or the Country Store in Cumberland is their outlet.

But, like the guy said, Ebay always has some stuff too!!! or, you could have come to the auction I told you about and REALLY saved money (can't let you forget that, bud)

oh yeah....The Country Store

I bought a profish 250 from The Country Store in Cumberland this weekend. but check ebay for deals on shacks and other eskimo equipment they put the stuff with minor flaws on there fairly cheap. I know a buddy of mine bought a quickflip 2 from them last year with 2 tiny holes smaller than a dime for 135 bucks last year and they gave him the repair kit to fix it for free.

I just got done assembling my new one-man Eskimo ice shack. The instructional manual is a bit sketchy, but you can assemble it easy enough using common sense. I bought it at Fleet Farm I like the sled, the sliding seat, the fabric, the ease of set up and take down, etc. If it turns out to be as good as I think it is, I'll be more than satisfied. www.ardisam.com

Farm & Fleet in Janesville has the eskimos and frabills out now... quick-flip 2's were $269 w/the padded bench seat... they still had a couple left after I took mine home.
