Trio Fishing Charters LLC

Luxemburg, WI
Trio Fishing Charters LLC. is a full service charter business that is run out of the sport fishing capital of the great lakes, Algoma WI, and located only a short 6 miles from the famous and beautiful Door County. We operate 7 days a week with 2 to 3 different trips a day.

Trio Fishing Charters specializes in all types of salmon as well as brown trout, lake trout, and steelhead (rainbow trout). We cater to all types of fisher men/women and children no matter if they have zero fishing experience or are one of the most seasoned in the world.

As well as people who just want to sit back and relax and have one of the most exciting trips of their lives. There is no way to explain the feeling of a 20 pound plus fishing pulling back at the other end of the line and screaming line out.

The port of Algoma Wisconsin is home to two Wisconsin state records. It is a proven fact that the charter boats out of Algoma catch larger numbers and larger size fish than any other fishing port on the lake. Fish of 30 plus pounds have been caught for years here and continue to be. Simply there is no other place on the lake that is better fishing.

Your Captain

Captain Matthew Solchenberger is a USCG-United States Coast Guard- licensed captain. His Great Grandfather, Emil Pagel, ran the first sport fishing charter out of Algoma WI.

Captain Matthew has been a local native to Algoma all of his life. He has been out on the waters of Lake Michigan for 19 years and fishing for 15 years. He has been on the water in many different situations to give him the experience that he needs to be a captain.

Captain Matthew says that "I take great pride in running my own charter boat, The Trio. I love to see the faces of satisfied customers. That is when I know that I have done a great job. I do this job because I love to fish and this allows me to do that as much as possible".

Boat

The name of the boat is Trio. I got the name from my great grandfather that had a commercial fishing boat called the Trio that was later turned into the first sport fishing boat out of Algoma. The new TRIO that I run today is a 1984 33' Chris Craft Commander. This Boat weighs in at 13,000 lbs which makes it a heavy fishing boat that handles the seas very well. It is a very strong built hull which Chris Craft is known for. This is the Cadillacs of boats.Trio Fishing Boat It is powered by dual 454 engines witch move us quickly to where the fish are biting and slows us down enough to troll and land these monsters.

The Trio is laid out beautifully with a spacious cabin for all of the guest to fit comfortably with an L shaped couch. As well as a kitchen that is equipped with a microwave, toaster, and refrigerator and Freezer for your use at sea. Next to that we have a full booth for you to sit at and eat your snacks. Moving more forward in the boat we have a large head (bathroom) for your use aboard. The bow of the boat is a bedroom that if you get tired you can take a nap if you wish. Moving to the back deck where all of the fishing is done. We have a nice size back deck that gives you ample room to fight your fish, take pictures, or just hang out.

The outside of the back deck is surrounded by a mid body rail that will keep you safe in the boat. This rail works out great not only for protection but as well a good leverage for fighting fish. Then last moving to the fly bridge of this vessel. This is the area above the cabin that is the highest point on the boat there are enough seats for 4 people. You can have a great view to take photos/video or just sit out and good old fashion sunbathe.

Fishing Seasons

February-March-April: This is prime Brown trout fishing time. We will be fishing 5 to 20 feet of water using stick baits.

May: Lake trout fishing at is best in May. Salmon start to show up between the 10th and the 20th of the month.

June: With good catches coming in both mornings and afternoons this is a great time to come. Mixed bags of nice salmon and trout at this time. This is the time were you will see the amazing steel-head (rainbow trout) do their famous tall walking.

July: Salmon are at full steam, feeding like crazy to reach their maximum size. Great mixed bags of salmon and trout during the month.

August: Salmon are getting to their largest size for the year getting ready to go up the rivers to spawn. You can be expecting many fish to tip the scales at 14 pounds or larger. Also great chances at a Brutus weighing in over 30 POUNDS.

September/October: Great chance for those after that trophy fish for the wall. Salmon at their largest size of their life. Spawn-minded adult salmon and browns are staging near the mouth of the harbor waiting to run up river. Fish biting out of instinct which makes the reels sing when the hit. Very exciting time to get on the water and watch the rods bend over.
