Port-A-Pier - Manitowoc

Manitowoc, WI

Your Waterfont Specialist Since 1970

There is no such thing as a "standard" waterfront. At Port-A-Pier our goal is to provide our customers with products and services that fit their waterfront needs.

Whether your endeavor is reaching for the stars or finding the best pier on the water, the way to achieve your goal is always the same: start with a winning strategy and then execute it perfectly. That's what we do every day at Port-A-Pier. Our piers are the best on the water; we make certain of it. We didn't prove it, Mother Nature did. There are no other pier manufacturers that expose their products to the torture and abuse of rough water seas like Port-A-Pier. We've done it, we've learned from it, and we're going to continue to do it. The knowledge we gain through every storm is immediately transferred into the new products you buy. As a result, the quality and longevity of our products is incomparable and unbeatable.

Rough Water Piers

Port-A-Pier owners enjoy a confidence and security whenever a storm rolls in because our piers have been tested and proven to withstand Lake Michigan's worst storms. Throughout nearly 40 years of research and development our icon, the Residential Rough Water Stationary Pier, has been molded into the strongest per unit weight dock on the market. Engineered to the nth degree, Port -A-Pier's proven steel, dual strengthened, trussed framework leaves the competition in a tangled mess onshore. After fabrication, the entire frame is hot dipped galvanized to ensure longevity and eliminate maintenance.

A variety of advanced anchoring methods have also been developed by Port-A-Pier to ensure that not even the worst storms will knock your pier out of the water. These anchoring methods allow our Residential Rough Water Stationary Piers to be installed in a number of locations including sand, small and broken stone, and shelf rock. In this high-paced, high-tech world many pier manufacturers depend solely on computers when designing their products. However, at Port-A-Pier we've learned that computers deal in theory and can only simulate the data that has been input. Although we do have CAD capabilities at Port-A-Pier, we believe that hard-core rough water abuse is one of the best ways to test our products' strength and engineered characteristics. We have used a combination of both in the development of the Residential Rough Water Stationary Pier to ensure that our customers will not only have the gratification of owning the absolute best, but also the super-structural integrity built in to confidently battle rough water.

Aside from these characteristics, Port-A-Pier is also an environmentally conscious corporation. Our solid plastic decking is made from recycled plastic bottles and incorporates a slip resistant, non-abrasive knurled surface. Moreover, it is impervious to the sun's ultraviolet rays which guarantees you a beautiful pier that will look like new for many years to come. We also have available the traditional pressure treated wood and the durable composite decking which offers many of the same features as our solid plastic decking. Finally, when comparison shopping for a pier NEVER discount storms per dollar. Simply divide the number of storms your pier has withstood by its price. When it comes to bottom line value, nothing beats a Port-A-Pier.

Residential Floating Piers

Port-A-Pier's Residential Floating Piers ensure that a constant pier-to-boat relationship will be maintained through extreme water fluctuations, deep water depths, and flood plane potentials. This objective is met through the use of EPA and DNR approved Rotocast floats that have a 1130# floatational capacity. Moreover, being polyurethane-filled with a polyethylene shell, our floats are durable, dependable, and will not rust or corrode. Furthermore, Port-A-Pier has developed several shoreline-to-pier interfaces that eliminate the need for costly, prior installation preparations such as concrete and steel seawalls. Our shoreline-to-pier interfaces readily adapt to existing shoreline and lake bottom applications including sand, dirt, small and large stone, mucky areas, concrete walls, and steel sheeting.

Multiple decking options are also available, including the traditional pressure treated wood, an environmentally friendly recycled plastic available in white, gray, or weatherwood, or the durable composite decking available in many different shades.

From our re-definitions of luxury, safety, and strength to the creation of the feeling of walking on water, it's no wonder that all other floating pier manufacturers are simply second best.

Inland Lake Pier

The same goals for strength and zero maintenance that have been achieved with our other products have also been incorporated into our Inland Lake Piers. Each of the 96" long sections consist of a strong, but lightweight, single rectangular steel tubing framework and two 48" removable deck panels. The frame of our Inland Lake Pier is completely hot-dipped galvanized after fabrication. Aside from these characteristics, we also offer a variety of decking options. Choose between our classic treated wood decking, our non-skid, non-abrasive recycled plastic decking in dove gray, white, or weatherwood, or our durable composite decking available in a variety of colors.

In addition to the longevity and zero maintenance of the Inland Lake Piers, these models also feature design flexibility, allowing you to create a pier that will accentuate your waterfront. Moreover, Port-A-Pier's Inland Lake Piers have also been engineered with ease of installation and removal in mind. This is evident in the strong, but lightweight frame and removable deck panels that each of our Inland Lake Pier sections ar composed of. Furthermore, we ensure top quality through the in-house design and manufacture of all the component parts used on our piers.
