Snowmobiling
Come winter, snowmobilers from all around the Great Lakes buzz through the country's interior on a well-groomed network of trails which connects with the trails in the rest of the Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin.

From vertical granite outcroppings glistening with frozen waterfalls, to scenic forests where wildlife abound, great trail-side restaurants and lodgings, to crossing the Menominee River via a trestle bridge. Our Ski School has PSIA certified instructors that will have you on our slopes in no time with confidence. With over 20 years of experience between them, our ski school directors lead a group of instructors that make skiing and snowboarding fun for all age groups.
Cross Country Skiing
Cross country ski trails are numerous in the Iron Mountain area. Enjoy the Fumee Lake Natural Area for a wonderful ski through the woods. Other trails include Iron Mountain City Park, Lake Mary Plains west of Sagola, and the Merriman East Pathway in Michigan. Wisconsin offers the Nicolet National Forest near Florence and Riverside Park just north of Niagara.
ATVing & Off Roading
Iron Mountain and the Dickinson County area, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, offers many opportunities for ORV/ATV riders. Whether it is on a state-designated trail, forest road or shoulders of county roads, the county offers a wide range of trail conditions and spectacular scenery.



Fishing Fishing guides are available, listing area lakes and maps, directions, size, accessibility and species of fish. See Michigan DNR information below on state regulation information. NOTE: On boundry water (Menominee River) you may use either a Michigan or Wisconsin-fishing license.
White Water Rafting
Piers Gorge - Norway The most challenging section of whitewater in the Midwest, the Menominee River plummets down a 10 foot waterfall and tumbles wildly through canyon walls, forming powerful hydraulics and huge standing waves. For expert kayakers and rafters. A nature trail offers great views of the falls, perfect for hikers, camera bugs and rock hounds.
Things to do
Looking to soak up the local scenery? Fumee Lake Natural Area and other area trails, have miles of trails to enjoy scenic views, wild life and flowers. Want some beautiful water scenery? Check out Piers Gorge Rapids or one of the area's waterfalls. And if your looking for a scenic overlook, take in the sites from atop Pine Mountain Ski Jump or the new viewing platform at the Millie Mine Bat Viewing area.
