About Hayward... Hayward is located in Northwestern Wisconsin. At the turn of the last century "Hayward" was a thriving logging town associated with "Hurley and Hell". In the new millennium, "Hayward" is synonymous with "A Family Vacation Paradise".

Autumn in The Northwoods... Autumn is the romance of crackling fires and Kodak moment nature trails. It is searching for an eagle's nest and having an island picnic. It is The Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival through the resplendent forest. It is flaming fairways through nature in the Golf Capitol of Wisconsin.

Autumn is the time for gathering harvest and people to celebrate nature's abundance with a flurry of festivals: Fall Fest, Cranberry Fest, the Bayfield Apple Fest, and the Gourmet Wine Tasting Party.

Autumn is the superb fishing of the "fall feeding frenzy." It is the Kids-Fish-O-Rama and shore lunches. It is The Musky Inc. Chapter Challenge Musky Tournament. It is the very last time for tall tales, songs and reminiscing around the fire before the magic transformation of winter.

Winter in the Northwoods... We love winter and it shows. About the only thing that goes to sleep in the northland in the winter are the black bears. the rest of the area is vibrant with activities for all ages right into March.

Winter is breaking trail through virgin powder on a crystalline lake with your snowmobile. It is crisp, clean air and glittering trees as you glide through pristine forests on cross country skis. It is learning how quite "quite" can be as you snow shoe across frozen wetlands, alert to the dart of deer or rabbit, or the chirp of a chickadee. It is the solitude of relaxing over your favorite ice hole, keenly awaiting the lunker you know is down there.

Spring in the Northwoods... Spring is the exhilaration of the nature re-awakening. It is the piercing call of the loon announcing his presence and the water-skimming dance of his mating ritual. It is teeing off with nature's background music of frogs in concert accompanied by the staccato of woodpeckers drumming their mating calls. It is the return of the majestic eagle and the ducks in search of a nesting area. Spring is mother fox parading by her kits and baby raccoons peeping out from their nesting hideout. It is hummingbirds and orioles viewing for feeders.

Summer in the Northwoods... Summer is the joy and freedom of families at play. For action, tube or canoe the wild rivers. Do the water slide, ski, hydrobike, boat, swim, go-cart, skate, horse back ride, hike or bike. Try archery and shooting ranges, bowling, tennis or golfing. Enter the competition biking, log rolling, golf, tennis, rubber duck racing and fishing.
