Welcome to Grop's Guide Service page. Living in Rhinelander my entire life has given me the chance to explore the lakes our great area has to offer. I've been fishing since the time my Dad could get me up on a five gallon bucket!(upside down so I wouldn't fall in) All of the great memories of fishing with family and friends are still fresh in my memory to this day. Fly fishing with one grandpa and learning the technique of how to use a fly rod and work a fly past a Brown Trout. Or Walleye fishing with my other grandpa and learning how to keep constant contact with the jig to catch sensitive eyes when they picked up my jig. My Dad was in the live bait business even before I was thought of. He sold to many of the local bait shops in the late 70's all the way up to the early 2000's. Maybe the fishing thing is in my blood?
I have spent countless hours on the water fishing for panfish, walleye, musky and pike, open water and hard. My first musky fishing was from a 17' canoe with my dad paddling and showing me where to cast. I have come a long way from the first backlashes, the ones you need a Stanley knife and more line in order to go back out again. I believe fishing is all about learning, memories and mistakes. Why not take all the mistakes out of the equation and just get the learning and memories? I will teach you proper casting techniques, how to use specific baits artificial or live , boat control and handling, lake map reading and locations to target fish. Seasonal movements is a big part of the what I will teach you also. Let my knowledge work for you!

When booking a trip things to keep in mind. Musky fishing trips are strictly catch and release out of my boat. These fish take many years to grow to trophy size in our waters and deal with a ton of obstacles throughout their lives. Advancements in taxidermy have been huge in the last ten years and now skin mounts cost as much as replicas at most top end shops. Your mount will never shrink and crack and will last the rest of your life.
