Castle Rock Lake and Lemonweir River
The 16,000-acre Castle Rock Lake is a sweet spot for avid anglers. Travel Wisconsin named it one of the best places to fish in the state! Beginning the first weekend in May, fishermen and women gear up to catch northern pike, sturgeon, muskie and panfish. You can also toss a line into the Lemonweir River which is full of sunfish, muskie, sturgeon, perch, panfish, northern pike, rainbow trout and bluegill. Fish from shore, the Riverside Park fishing dock or by boat/canoe.

Mortimer, the turtle, welcomes everyone to this lively bar, grill and marina located on Castle Rock Lake. Stop in for lunch, dinner or drinks. The Dock Complex offers marina services and is open year-round with live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Dock overnight or reserve a seasonal boat slip. The 48-foot "Cruisin' Turtle" party boat accommodates 50 people and is available for rent by advance reservations only.

Shipwreck Bay

A great place to hang with old and new friends, Shipwreck Bay is known for delicious food, friendly service and fantastic views of Castle Rock Lake! There's a large covered deck with its own bar on the side of the restaurant. Relax, eat outside and join a game of volleyball on the adjoining sand court. During the summer, you can sing and dance to a DJ and Karaoke on Friday nights. Saturday nights feature a live band. Dock your boat at one of their piers or pull up on an ATV. In winter, buzz in on your snowmobile. You'll be glad you did!

Annual Lake Decorah Lake Restoration Ice Fishing Tournament

This event has a $20 entry fee and prizes for largest bass, bluegill, crappie, perch and northern. Food, drink, music, raffles and fun for all! Fishing is allowed from the New Lisbon Dam to the Mauston Dam. All proceeds benefit the lake restoration fund.

Our Lakes and Rivers Lemonweir River
Take your pick of upstream or downstream paddling excursions from Mauston. This clear, winding river is mostly sandy bottom and framed by maples, birches, white pines and oaks. Picnic on one of several sandbars. Keep an eye out for deer, muskrat, heron, cranes and eagles.

Castle Rock Lake
If you're longing for relaxing days spent on the water, plan a trip to Castle Rock Lake. A flowage of the Wisconsin River, the state's fourth largest lake covers 16,640 acres and features 60 miles of shoreline - mostly in its natural state. Depth varies from eight to 20 feet with some areas reaching 30 feet. Enjoy fantastic boating, fishing, water skiing, sailing and swimming.

Petenwell Lake
Wisconsin's second largest lake covers 23,173 acres, has a maximum depth of 44 feet and is a gorgeous retreat for swimming, water skiing, sailing and fishing. There's easy access from several public boat landings and a public beach. The undeveloped, forested shoreline provides a perfect home for wildlife.
