In light of the COVID-19 virus, the in-person portion of the 72 public meetings known as the Spring Hearings that were to be held in each county on April 13 are canceled. The public will continue to have the opportunity to provide input on the natural resources advisory questions from the DNR, Natural Resources Board (NRB), and WCC through the online input option.

The online input option will be provided through a link that will be posted on the Spring Hearing page and will go live at 7 p.m. on April 13. The online version will remain open for three days (72 hours). Results will be posted as soon as they are available.

Information about the Spring Hearing questions can be found on the DNR website (search keywords "Spring Hearings").

Check out these pages and bookmark them for the 13th. Residents and non-residents alike can vote on proposed changes. Remember these are only proposals. It sometimes takes a few years to implement any changes. This is where to make your voice be heard, not on social media sites.

Keep a tight line!!!

I took a ride down the east side today. Chester's Creek, and the Petenwell County Park ramps are open, but no piers in at this time. There were trucks and trailers in both lots. Stopped by the 20th street ramp on the southeast end and this one is not usable at this time. As far as I could see there was no ice present anywhere on the lake, but I'm sure there is some floating around somewhere. Water level is still 1 1/2 feet below summer target levels, and the flow at the dam is decreasing.

Keep a tight line!!!

Lake level is coming up rather quickly. Flow at the dam is 16,624. The lake is currently 1.39 feet below the level of when the draw-down started on 1/28, and 2.43 feet below summer target level. The whole sheet will be floating soon, and be gone. I was on the lake last year on April 3rd.

Keep a tight line!!!

Report from this weekend:

Prepped the boat for the season....decided to shore fish a bit.

Ice still on Pete from Archer Lane to the south (dyke).   Found some open water and drowned some fatheads Saturday afternoon. 2 eyes and 2 cats in 3 hours.  ~22” slot eye was a nice surprise.

Tried the river below both Nekoosa and Pete dams as well; difficult to fish from shore due to cfm flow rate.  Both dams fully open.

Pete a good 6-8 feet below normal levels.  Adams County Park boat launch and lake area still ice.  Chester Creek too low for launching (would not feel comfortable launching my 18’ Targa).  Hwy 21 and dam launches perfectly fine.

Can’t wait to get the boat out after “stay in place.”

side note: Tim’s Bait (self-service honor system) on about 17th and Z (~2 miles south of the Lure on Z) has crappie minnows, fatheads, river mix, and chubs.  Reasonable pricing and great to see this business running.

Anyone been by the lake recently and seen if the ice is off yet? What about ramps if they are accessible. I’d like to get the boat out to work out the bugs.
