Anybody have an ice report on the Manty Marina?

I checked the Sheboygan Marina the other day and the ice is almost completely gone already.

Wale-There's been quite a few people fishing the marina, around 12" of ice. No trout action that I've seen or heard, just the typical small pike to keep you from getting bored. The river just recently locked up, I doubt anyone has been on it. Maybe by this weekend!

Took advantage of a brief break from the strong winds Thursday 11/5, left the Manty harbor ~ 10 AM.  Pretty good rollers coming from the south, wind was modest no chop on top so a reasonable ride.  We took a 10 mile ride due east to 240, stopping a few times to check the graph.  Water temps were 48-49 everywhere.  Didn't mark anything on our brief stops in 60 or 120.  Thought about continuing to head east, but my crewmember was not overly keen on steaming on.  So we set up in 240 trolling north.

While setting up, we did mark a good number of fish in the first 15-20 minutes.  Most were well below my deep rigger, which had 100 feet of cable out.  Some were between the 100 foot and 50 foot rigger.  Marked one huge bait pod.  After that initial group of marks, nothing on the graph.  Once we hit about east of the TR piers, turned and trolled south into the waves.  Worked from 210 to 240.

Got back to where we set up, never marked those fish again.  Then trolled north and shallower.  In 170 put an ~ 8 pound bow in the box, 200 copper green dolphin spoon.  In ~ 130 a smallish Lake Trout.  That was it, pulled the plug in 100 off the north water tower.

Would love to give one more shot real deep, but with the wind forecast that's not going to happen.  Will wash & wax the boat in the 60 degree weather, and say goodbye to the 2020 season.  A quick look back, I view it as a great season.  The first twenty pound king on 6/4, three over twenty on 7/2 (23, 27, and 31); finally got that elusive thirty pounder!  The last couple weeks of June and first week of July were stellar.  Will be looking forward to chasing Brown Trout.

Saw Santa's motorized Reindeer as I Launched about 1:30PM Thursday pulling at 5:30PM to end my Season.  I trolled from off Silver Creek to just South of the Dome House twice staying in 100ft. to 110ft. of water.  Probably because my first fish came in 105ft..  I had plans to just target Lake Trout and it worked out to my surprise.  I ran 2 riggers and a mag wire dipsy all with spin & glows and old 8 inch metal dodgers.  My riggers were set 90ft. and 95ft. and they worked no dipsy hit.  I have not fished spin & glows much off riggers but 40-45ft. set backs and 2.0 to 2.4GPS worked yesterday.  One Laker had two Smelt inside Lakers like smelt so do I.  Anyway, my smoker appreciates Lake Trout and I hope you all have a good off Season.

Damn wind finally subsided on Thursday 10/8, jumped at the opportunity to make a run.  Left the Manty dock ~ 11:00 AM, headed northeast and set up in ~ 220 FOW closer to TR than Manty.  Surface temps were 53-54, 60' down at the probe temps were two degrees cooler; that was pretty consistent wherever we went (2 degrees cooler 50 to 60' down).  Worked it good with a spread from just below the surface to down 90'.  Worked in to 190, out to 250, worked south, then north.  Marked perhaps 2 or 3 fish, no bait.  After working that for a solid two hours, was not feeling the love.  Was either going to keep trolling south and shallower, or rip & run.  As forecasted, winds were calming as were the seas.  So we ripped and ran.

After a nice 10 mile boat ride, set up in 500.  Similar water conditions; surface temps were 54-55, two degrees cooler down 50 to 60'.  Worked from 430 to 530, south, north, east, west.  Marked maybe 4-5 fish, no bait.  No hits, other than a 14" king we were dragging on the deep rigger / spoon when we pulled lines.

Excellent day on the water, no fish-catching.  Hoping to get at least a couple of more trips in, and actually find some fish.

Fantastic day on the water with good friends Wednesday 9/23.  Not much fish catching, but will share what we found.

Left the harbor just after sunrise, took a long boat ride to 500.  Once the sun was up, surface temps were pretty much 60 to 61 everywhere we fished.  Temp probe had the thermocline at about 50 to 60' down.  Was hoping to find more cold water higher up, but was not to be.  We worked a 2 mile area that has produced well in the past, not many fish were there.  We boated a 6 pound rainbow on an agent orange spoon, 5 color, and had to keep a 2 pound king that we unfortunately were dragging on a spoon 90' deep rigger.  After working for close to 3 hours, determined it was not going to happen, pulled lines, ran "shallower" to 350.

Worked 350 for about an hour.  That was a dead sea, at least where we were.  Thermocline was deeper, 60 degree water down almost to 40'.  After an hour and the revelation it was not going to happen, pulled and ran in to 230.

Worked 230 to about 260 for a couple of hours.  One nice rainbow (~ 9 pounds) on 50' rigger, green dragon slayer / green krinkle fly.  One 9" king released on the 90' deep spoon rigger.  No other hits.  The cooler water was a little bit higher up than what we found in 350, but still had to go 60' down to get near 50 degrees.

Pulled the final line around 3:00 PM, so we gave it a solid run.  Hoping the lake flips soon, and can find some 10 pound bows and 15 pound kings snapping (last year had good action late October, when wind/waves allowed).

Sadly, don't think they're serving up pizza at the Buffalo yet, so we headed west on Hwy 10 with empty coolers and bellies.

Headed to T-Woc on Sunday morning and got started about 3:30 am.  Started in 50, worked out to 120 and looped back in.  Nothing!!!  Temps were 57 top to bottom all the way out to 75 and then I found 50 to 48 degrees from 75 to 90.  I hit just about every depth, but could not find the fish.   To make matters worse, with the big swells and being pitch black, got seasick for the first time in 30 years, which allowed me to chum, but that didn't work either!  Not sure where to find the fish this time of year. Any help would be helpful.   I was the only boat out there and when I came in at 9:00, there were only two others.  Very odd...   Kyle
