Spent the past two days on Big Sissi trying to learn the body of water. Working the southern areas of the lake as I have fished from a pontoon with family, and in my trusty kayak. Fishing is slow and fish are small. Getting a pattern was hard, but gravel bottomed areas inside of a deep weed line produced perch on standard rigs with crawlers. Walleye came on a weed edge drop from 10-16 with a rapala jigging rap, without a tip. Largemouth came on a mix of chatterbaits and a white 3" swim shad. Threw into shorelines or over pads to draw them out. Good numbers with LMB, just small in size. Pike hit both chatterbaits and swim fish in shallows next to weed edged and Lilly pad lines. I'm pretty new to fishing, but this was the groove I laid out. Will try again tomorrow to see if I can get into a multi species day.

Regarding ice depth: most spots had roughly 12 inches, but I drilled one hole in an area with slush that had maybe 8 inches, and it was soft ice, saturated through with water. A set of truck tracks went right through that spot. I'm thinking they were lucky to have stayed on top...
Some others drove trucks out throughout the day. I would NOT recommend it! There's enough snow that getting stuck is a real possibility, and I'd be afraid of dropping my truck through some of those slush pockets out there.
On top of that, the fishing was a bit slow. Average size of crappies were just eaters, no slabs.
Be careful out there.
