On at 645am, off at 1:30pm Tuesday. 13 gills, 1 legal largemouth. Really slow most of the morning. Worked the shoreline by the public beach. Finding no activity in the shallows and really slow action at other depths, we eventually tried slow drifting from 14fow into 7fow with big reds and slip bobbers. That seemed to be the better tactic as we got most of our gills with the drift and most of the hits in the 12ft area. Looked like the gills were spawning deeper, females full of eggs. When the sky cleared and the sun came to stay the bite was over. Some very nice bull gills in the mix. Weather perfect with the cloud cover and light wind to give some ripple. All in all a good day, tight lines.
Jory, just a comment about your last post fisherman to fisherman aren't we both doing the same thing it's not like I'm water skiing over shallow water disturbing the beds as you put it your earlier posts claim that the gills are spawning way deeper than you would think so aren't we both disturbing beds whether we take the fish or not, in fact you have a picture of a pregnant female you're putting back I'm going to enjoy a fish fry tonight if you would like to throw them back that's your decision I'm sure when you take out clients they don't throw them back and I've released plenty over nine and a half inches peace and tight lines
Started a bit deeper today did not want to disturb the beds… Started in 20 feet moving shallower…ended up putting the hammer down in 16 feet …first fish was 9 1/2 inch bluegill… Same spot second cast 17 1/2 inch small mouth Bass then in between five and 7 o’clock I got nine more bluegill and two more bass all fish still swimming
I’m a FIB but even I have to strongly disagree with Gill’s criticism below of Jory for “advertising” his guide service by posting his client’s as well as his personal results from the methods and locations he shares. As Hero said, he is “showing you he isn’t lying“ i have directly benefited from Jory’s, as well as Billy Hein’s generosity in sharing information, both as a client (in Billy’s case) and even as a non-client chatting boat-to-boat on Geneva. So yeah. I wish lots more “experts” of all kinds provided such proof of their experience and competence.
Thanks for the tip Jory. I do have a 14' Alumacraft but need a partner. At 85 my caring wife doesn't want me to be on the news like she's seen over the years. Don't agree but a happy wife makes a happy husband as the saying goes, and when she's recovered enough from the second of two knee replacements hopefully late summer/ early Fall, she'll be able to climb in and out of my little scow and we can look for those slab gills.
