Skunked again! Lol just came off the lake. Dark clear ice out by the East boat house is solid and strong 7"everywhere I cut in. Closer where it's white/gray ice; about 6" in some places with a hard slush on top for 1/4". Marked decent schools of perch, couple bass sitting low in the water column, some nice-looking sized pike cruising but very little in the way of schools of blueys anywhere I scouted or were just moving too much (Scouting off my Garmin Livescope). Everything I marked was sitting deep in weed holes or cruising close to shore with the middle of the bay very empty looking. Couldn't tempt anything in on red and white spikes on various sized jigs anywhere in the water column. Got a lot of ice-eating warm weather coming in over the next 10 days (showing upwards of 45degrees!) So that may bag it for me for a while, would like to get back out at least one more time on Pine with some minnows but about ready to try another lake. Lead with a spud bar and test that ice often, could save your life!

Made it out today, only went out about 300 yards off the landing, ice was good but wet on top and kinda sloppy. Ice looked questionable beyond the boathouse peninsula, but people were going beyond that pretty far. 8in or better everywhere I poked a hole, marked lots of fish but couldn't make anything happen jigging all day. There was a group of dads and kids out further and guessing by the squeals of the kids they must have been doing decent. Hoping to get back out again but this rain is really making it a mess.

Well finally made it out to the office . Breezy earlier but was a great day to be out . We hit the ramp later in the afternoon and made our way down to South end . Lance hooked first fish which was a baby wally . I missed three hits on the worm and even grand daughter Emery got small bluegill on her 3 foot rod . We then moved to west shoreline and worked our way down and I finally hooked and landed first fish of the year which was a nice largie, then got a small hammer handle . Lance had a 24 inch northern on his crappie rig but it spit the hook 8 feet from the boat . Hit a few more spots and got 3 largemouth total , one northern , bunch of small perch and bluegill and one small walleye . All in all was a fantastic day to be with great friend and 3 yr grand daughter.
